The story is: I test drove a GTI at Denlo and fell in love with it, put a deposit on it and basically paid retail. When organising my finance, our company's finance guy arranged a super price for me with another VW dealer which basically equalled Denlos price but metallic paint, mdi, leather sunroof. Denlo were accomodating in refunding my deposit, and i put deposit on car with other company. Other dealer calls me a week later and says he cannot get car in stock (told me he had secured it via swap from other dealer) i cancelled with them and they refunded. I called back Denlo as they had been good to me with the initial refund. They matched the other dealers quote and added the detroits for about 350 extra.
Its been an interesting few weeks, but it think i came out on top and i am happy Denlo got the sale. I also bought my Polo GTI from Denlo and have full service history, so this may have helped with the deal. Dont expect them to do the same deal for everyone, it was a combo of things that sealed it, but more so the alternate quote from the other dealer organised by the finance guys who have huge buying power
Who did you deal with there mate?? Seems like a good dealership to deal with
Went to VW Sutherland for a quote - not at the point of bargaining at this point and he gave me the following figure.
Exact same options as above but with the addition of Electric Seats and 5DR was $59,400 or $57,000 with a corporate discount.
On the screen these figures were basically RRP less $1500 (general discount).
It's nice to know that there is a lot more room to move on price though from these figures I was given today.
If I proceed with these options ill be aiming for about $55k without a corporate discount.
I bought mine from there a few weeks ago, found them pretty accomodating and although I only took the MDI and Reverse Parking sensors I saw a $5K discount (10% or so) with corporate and didnt really push hard. Found Clinton to be pretty honest and helpful, and he owns a Mk5 too
Anyway good luck with it, and hope to see you out and about in a Mk6 soon, the more in the Shire the better!
Test drove the GTi on Saturday and got a quote from our local VW guy. We've ordered a 147 Tiguan from him just a couple of weeks ago for the wife, so i'm hoping that his price is good, but thought i'd check with you guys.
5 Door Golf GTi
DSG
Leather Interior
Electric Seats (heated )
Metallic Paint (Carbon Steel but geez i wish VW would be less conservative with paint color choices!)
ACC
Bi-Xenon headlights
RNS510 Sat Nav System
Dynaudio Upgrade Option
MDI
Park Assist & Rear View Camera
Drive away was $55,000 including the Corporate Discount.
By my calcs, this works out to $63,700 ish for full RRP, so a $8,700 discount or ~13.5%.
I'll get them to do the Dealer window tint (as i think this is darker than the Factory Tint??) and Euro type plates are standard too, and I'll also get some aftermarket 18" Rims and Tyres, rather than paying for factory ones. I like the black Vision rims, but it's $1,000 per corner for Rim & Tyres!
The only option i didn't tick was the sunroof, as i don't like them much and never used the one in my previous car.
So do you think he has room to move?
My gut instincts are that he's given a good price, and i won't bother shopping around if you guys confirm this. I will get them to throw in the Tint job, and maybe some scuff plates and the MDI cable if i can though
And has anyone got a picture of what the Carbon Fibre B-Pillar inserts look like installed?

I know this is off topic but when a dealer gives you free floor mats are they the ones with the red trim with the word GTI at the bottom? Or just the regular Golf ones?
