Mk6 GTI - not far away now!

A mate of mine just spotted a Mk6 GTI on a truck heading from Port Kembla to PrixCar.

Shouldn't be too long now chaps.

I actually e-mailed VW via their website e-mail address asking for any more details, not expecting much, and that's exactly what I got (today):

"Unfortunately a specific launch date and pricing for this model in Australia is still being finalised and will not be announced until closer to the time of release."

Yeah, they play their cards pretty close to their chest.

I'd pencil in October, though.

Judging by the MKV an October release means April delivery??

i just wish they would hurry up and announce pricing. If i can't afford the GTi then i'd be ordering the diesel asap.

Is Prixcar a handler before VAG vehicles are delivered to dealerships via Patricks?

Yeah, although I wouldn't have thought Patricks would truck them to the dealers after PrixCar, but maybe they do? I think at that stage, too, the method/company of transport is dependent on the dealer the cars are going to.

For example, my new car is quite possibly on the road between Sydney and Canberra as we speak. The transport company used by Audi Centre Canberra to move their cars from PrixCar is a local company and not one of the major national freighters.

For built to order cars that might be right, but you'd hope VWA brings in a bunch of pre-specced cars to help with initial demand. Just as they did with the 3dr GTIs.

A guy just posted on AUSmotive that he saw a GTI at Fremantle port earlier in the week too. So there may be more floating around the place than first thought.

local dealer told me yesterday they are expecting them for November delivery (if you can believe them).

Austral in BNE is expecting deliveries to start Nov as well as clip said.

according to same dealer, they're just arguing over what price to sell it for sharkie, but it is coming.
