  • It's not that at all.

The reason people are saying that wdong will get bad service is because he upset/angered the sales person so much that he punched the table and yelled at him!

It's going to be funny to watch you moan and groan here as your delivery date slips into oblivion. Time and again over the years I've seen a bunch of people like you boast about what a good deal they got, and how hard they worked the dealer, and then the dealer on sells the car to another person for more and re-orders yours again, and on it goes.

I've also heard many car dealers say that people who play dealers against each other are the worst customers they ever get.

If the car is just being ordered now you have no chance of getting it in April. Ask your dealer for a VIN and see what happens haha

Being an Aussie living in Asia, I know all about this asian bargaining culture stuff, but that doesn't mean it's always going to go down well in Australia... Just like there's plenty of cultural traits that I grew up with that don't go down well up here.

          Good luck.

Yeah - this is going to be very important. Get the VIN, so not only do you know when it'll arrive (and can track it), but it ensures that the dealer could not sell the car to a higher paying customer - though I'm sure most dealers are honest enough to not do this

Corey I am blatantly stealing this from vortex.. but supposedly..

                the threshold is $57,009
                How does that change things?

Did he say you were getting it in may, or did he say you may be getting it?

                  • Only that if the dealer and the purchaser have signed a contract and the purchaser has put down a deposit then any delivery date included within the contract is binding on the dealer (short of excusable delay) and any missing of this date must meet the definition of excusable delay without them being liable. But if the delivery date is only verbally given then you havent a leg to stand on.

As of all this asian bashing, enough of that, if that's the sort of crap you enjoy discussing then piss off and go buy a buick truck.

                    • This thread is so funny. I don't think I've ever seen so many forum people sticking up for or feeling sorry for a dealer/car salesman. It's hilarious. As soon as one dude snags the deal of the month people start crying foul. Personally I wouldn't argue over a deal but if he wants to good luck to him. I'm sure he ain't going to lose any sleep over it and he has an extra $3k in his pocket. Too funny!

                      • @elisiX,

Sorry mate, you're right. Got confused between the VIC and NSW thresholds.

So that put the price around ~$55,800, giving him a ~$7050 discount, or ~12.6% - which we've seen before. So certainly not worth making the dealer angry at you for.

It's got nothing to do with the price but the smug attitude about the way he treated the salesmen which appears to have diminished a little when he was asked if he had the delivery date on the contract.

                            • Based on the RRP of the car and all accessories my discount was around 16%. To get this I went to 3 dealers and asked for their best price (without telling any of the dealers the others price). The next day I went to the one with the best price and put down my deposit without having to haggle at all.

That's a very good deal considering the fact that you have most of the accessories put in place. where did you buy the car in Sydney? which dealer and what is the sales man name?
