Ive been to Glen Waverley, Camberwell, Knox. Can only get between 2-6.5% off RRP.
Werribee and Morrabin were very good on the phone, but would not give final pricing and "have to check with the boss first".
One guy agreed with my price i wanted (9%), after a few negotiations on the phone, and said, "oh I actually can't guarantee that price, i'll have to ask my boss first". Needless to say that the boss didn't agree and it was a huge waste of 15 minutes on the phone.
As someone mentioned to me earlier. It looks like i might try interstate dealers becuase i can not the the melbouren dealers to play ball.
Note: Im not trying to screw the dealers down to nothing. Only what the average prices are here. And with dealers charging $3995 dealer delivery and only giving me $1800 off the RRP is a joke. This doesnt even cover the inflated DD pricing?!
4k for dd... thats a shocker!

These are the RRPs I've been quoted from Austral VW in QLD - $2.7K for DD but ORCs of about $4.3K. Hope to strike up a deal with corporate pricing once my current car has a buyer...
A quick question regarding the "Corporate Discount".
Is this discount something that the dealer wears... or do they have to verify all corp particulars because WGA then offers the dealer a rebate??
How does it actually work, and who actual "gives" this discount?
I believe VWA passes the discount on to the dealer in full. As a result, it's no skin off the dealer's nose if you're eligible for corporate plus - better for you, and therefore better for the dealer too. The only caveat I can think of is that the dealer may have a quota for the discount, but I doubt it.
Thx for the reply Adam - I thought that was the case.
Which means that most dealers will climb into their shell after the Corp discount ceiling has been reached (on standard car - no options) - and the person buying the car thinks "gee what a good deal the dealership gave me".. when in reality they should be pushing for another 5% on top. The dealer needs to give a bit also.
So 15% discount should be a standard discount on stock car (10% corp + 5% dealer).. Any extras would need at an absolute minimum another 25% off.
My wife and I were in at the dealer today trying (in vain) to test drive a 90TSI Manual. The salesman mentioned that as of March 1st, VWA will be enforcing a cap to the dealer delivery charges. I believe it will be $1995 (or there abouts)

When you buy ANY mass produced make of car, your crazy if you pay more than $500 for Dealer Fees..
I am looking at buying a 118TSI Comfortline
DSG
Metallic Paint (Black)
Sunroof
RCD510 Dynaudio
MDI
Cloth Sport Package
On road from Solitaire Hawthorn (Adelaide) have quoted me around $43,125. I'm thinking of making an offer of around $37,500-38,000. Is that realistic/acheivable?
Also, I have been considering waiting until the end of June to purchase since it is now almost May. Are VW dealers generally good with end of financial year sales or is it not worth the wait?
