  • the guy is full of it, as you can tell, if you do the maths, the majority of people here get essentially the same discount +/- few hundred. There are exceptions of course, as circumstances are different, but largely the same discounts.

I wouldnt buy it from someone like that. Slight misguidance is one thing, but blatantly lying to you is another. He must think you are stupid, which is clearly not the case.

Whether this is a good price or not, depends on what are the "various options".
But if I am to spend 42k, I would consider getting a GTI instead.

Leather, Sunroof, Dynaudio, Sports Pack, Metallic Paint, RVC, MDI

I did consider a GTI, however with the options I want the price will be closer to 50k I imagine which is out of my price range.

          Yes.

Will the normal Ipod cable fit into the USB slot to control the iPod or is it a special cable?

            • So the MDI option doesn't come with the ipod cable? Crap!

              • Nope - it's an absolute rort.

Who the hell is going to plus any device other than an iPod/iPhone in.

The cable should be part of the kit with the option of using either.

Me! I refuse to use a product where the company tells YOU how and when you can use your device. Give me an Anything But iPod any day

                    • I prefer to use the SD Card feature instead of MDI - SD Card is a lot better because you can leave it in the car without worrying about thieves, and you can manage the music on any computer you like without having to use any other programs. That way I can leave my iPod alone without modifying it for any sort of playlists I prefer in the car and whatnot. Oh, and I can have two separate folders - one for my music, one for the wife's music. So much easier.

                      • Corey fair enough.

But for me, when a company makes a product as simple and intuitive as Apple, I'm happy to pay them for it.

It's not expensive and runs without a hitch - at least the 3 iPhones, 5 iPod's, 2 Macbook Pro's and iMac i've bought from them have been perfect.

I managed to get them to throw in as part of the deal. Otherwise, it costs around $80.

Spoke to the dealer, I pick the 118 in Shark Blue tomorrow, and asked him to throw the cable in (Crap it's not included anyways!) Then it's off to Newcastle for the weekend.

                            • Hi Guys,

Looking at buying a 118TSI Manual in candy white with sports pack (cloth). Hoping to achieve a D/A price in Victoria of $31,000?

Any thoughts on if this is a good deal? achievable?. I don't have any corportate discounts.

I'm aware of the waterpump "chirp" and loss of compression issues with the TSI motor - does anyone know if there has been a fix made in the factory from a certain production date on either of these issues? Obviously i'd try and secure a car with the fix.

Thanks heaps - been doing heaps of reading hear lately and all posts have been extremly helpful!!

                              • I paid $35230 for a white 118TSI with DSG, sports pack and mats included; which is about a 7% discount. But that's in WA, where there seems to be less competition between dealers (or just higher costs to get the cars here in the first place?). In fact, at the first dealership I went to I was told something along the lines of "we're a premium brand, we don't do discounts because it would devalue our products". Needless to say I left and went elsewhere.
