Golf Mk6 - Prices and Dealer Negotiations

Hi all have just read this entire thread and a question to all the Qld members on here as to which dealer is doing the deals so to speak as I hear a lot of differing reports. I am chasing the following...

GTI 5dr manual
leather
bi xenon lights
boot liner
MDI
bluetooth
metallic paint

One quote is $50125.

Pretty sure my wife(who will be driving the car most of the time) will qualify for the corporate disc. Am i being realistic is saying I want to pay no more than $42 - $44 drive away??

Don't know about the corporate discount but I'd say more likely to be $45k to $46k if you bargain hard. There is over $5k in just the leather and bi-xenons alone.

Don't worry about bluetooth, and if the boot liner isn't thrown in for nix then get it at the spares counter where it will be cheaper.

Using coreying's GTI spreadsheet, drive away RRP in QLD with standard plates is $52,200 without the boot liner.

A 10% discount would take that down to $47k. $42k-$44k would be in the order of 15-20%, which is probably entering the unreasonably high expectations range.

I will do it for $36,000 Drive Away, 12 Months Rego, Floor Mats.

Not often you'll find a dealer willing to do that on a public forum, good work. Be surprised if you didn't have a few sales wrapped up on Monday.

I wouldn't worry too much about corp discount. You can do better with some friendly discussions. The corp thing just makes it easy to stroll into a dealer and sign up for a decent price without ANY effort at all.

Cloth trim

DD was $1495. Sales guy told me he could get more off price but would have to speak to boss who he said would knock some more off. I also said to throw in mudflaps($300 fitted) and boot liner($200) as well so we'll see what they come back with.

Got another quote today for the same car without ACC and detriot's from another dealer. $44924 with DD of $1345. Looks like it does pay to hit up a few dealers thats for sure......

So the $46600 quote has Detroits ($1200) and ACC ($1500) and yet the new quote is only $1676 cheaper when $2700 worth of options have been removed.....
The first quote is better man

Anyone after something similar my CW GTI is for sale and has the same specs minus the bluetooth, but also has: Bi-Xenons, RVC, dark glass, front tint and paint+interior protection (a mod or two). That's $4795 worth of extras (not including the paint/interior protection). Just some food for thought as you could get it for a similar price with no wait. On carsales.

Hi Rexman, not planning on buying anything for a while or perhaps a motorbike.. Just need to sort out some other priorities and don't want to sell it per se.

Yeah I know mate. Second charged less for DD and no Detroits or ACC but it did have leather in that deal. Forgot to add that LOL. So with the price of leather being deraer than the rims and ACC it wokrs out to a fairly good price.

Hi mate, the idea had crossed my mind but not convinced it would be any better around town and I don't track my car so would probably be a waste having anything better. The R is FWD most of the time anyway and is heavier and use more fuel.. Besides that the numbers didn't really stack up. So I could end up keeping the GTI but will leave it advertised for anyone interested as I was planning on getting something cheap for a while (if anything).

Might have been able to do a little better but I was happy with 13%!

I've posted this in another thread, but seeings this is a price thread, I thought I'd put it it this one as well. I just want let people know you can achieve discounts on the "R" aswell.

This is the deal I got straight up, slapped down a deposit immediately without haggling...
