How to track the car you have ordered?

interesting on the word about someone from VW will call every new buyer who purchased an R, coz I ordered it at May 11 but no one call me about the production date and I always thought the only guy will inform u about it is your salesperson.

I placed an order last week for MY12 Golf R. The dealer said the car will arrive sometime in January 2012.

A moment ago, I received a call from VW Customer Care and the guy said he calls every new customer that purchased an R.

He said that the car will go into production on Week 44. I checked calendar, Week 44 is first week of November.

I asked him if the car will be ready for delivery on January 2012, he didn't answer me and tried to dodge the question.

I think I've been conned. I think the car will not arrive until March or April next year. What do you think? Does anyone know how long it would take to make a car to the day when it will be delivered?

I ordered my car in December 2010.

Mine started manufacture on 5th April 2011.

It left Germany on 16th of April (on the car carrier Topaz*Ace), and went down the Atlantic, around South Africa, then over to Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, then Brisbane.

It arrived in Brisbane on 25th of May, and I was able to collect it from the dealer on 9th June.

They're doing it with Polo GTI's too. Possibly a few other models. Basically they're just trying to manage expectations on the high demand models which have long waits....

LATEST INFO FROM VGA RE: POLO GTI / GOLF R 2012 PRODUCTION

Received this as part of an email from VGA this afternoon in response to my query of no production in first quarter
of 2012. Sourced from VGA logistics and relayed back via customer service.

“At the moment, all current Polo GTI/Golf R orders are looking to go into production in January with an expected arrival
date in April. This of course is subject to change, but this is the latest information provided by VGA."

This lines up with what my dealership last told me too, but who knows?

I ordered my R at the beginning of August. The only phone call I got was to say my credit card had been rejected because they wrote down the wrong number!

I checked with the dealer today. He expects a build date in November and hence delivery by mid February if not late January.

My R was supposed to be shipped by 9/9/11 and arrive here in perth on the 17/10.
The most likely boat to carry the car was the TIJUCA which was leaving bremerhaven on the 7/9 and arriving here on the 13/10. That ship left port yesterday and nothing has come up on the WW website on the tracking. Is it likely WW have a slow logging system or is it likely my car now is going onto the next ship? The next ship will be the TORTUGAS leaving 16/9/11 and getting to perth on 19/10.

I just got an export from NADCOM showing a 'desired build week' 50.2011 - if that all goes to plan what milestones should I be expecting and aprox when would delivery be?

The boat arrived last week on Tuesday (11/10). I was going to go down and see if I could see the car unload but didn't get there in the end so just watched the boat on the port of Freo webcams. I saw it leave at about 8pm.

I went fishin in Freo this weekend just gone and had a look at the import yard. Nothing there except 3 nice evoque's and an old lancia and some Audi's. Lots of mitso' and stuff like that.

So where has it gone now. compliance yard - dealership. (it wasn't there on sunday) the car was bought through wangara. I emailed Dermot 3 times since last Thursday and got no replies. I called wangara today and aparently he's left. The lady I spoke with today will get in touch once she works out who's looking after me now. I'm a bit concerned on timeframe as i got custom plates and don't wan them to drill the bumper.

How much notice do they give you to pick up your car? I need to get cash sorted and that can take a few days accessing managed funds etc...

about 5months.... :\ mine was order 26/5 left production 25/8 and got here 11/10. still waiting for delivery...
