How to track the car you have ordered?

All righty...

I have worked out how to use the tracking site now and realised that you don't enter your VIN number (Vehicle ID) you enter your Chassis Number which includes your VIN number in it.

My CW Golf GTI is on the MORNING CAROL and after having left BELGIUM only a short while ago has now just docked at SOUTH HAMPTON, ENGLAND. Next stop is South Africa, Fremantle, Melbourne and then Port Kembla (not far from me). Docks at Port Kembla late next month. SO in one month my GTI will at least be in the same country as me.

Amazing stuff this maritime tracking. It is quite interesting being able to view all those shipping movements around the wold.

Does anyone else have a car on this vessel?

At least I know that the delivery date is looking on track so far and I guess the ship is seaworthy as she was only commissioned in 2009, so a new ship..... so besides Pirates, tsunami or a stray meteorite we should be right for June delivery to me.

To clarify here, the Vehicle ID is not your VIN. Chassis Number = VIN. They are interchangable terms....

So in other words, the first post is correct, you DO enter your VIN.

I haven't noticed any Golf people on the Morning Carol, but there are a couple Polo GTI people on the same boat

My GTI has just seen the light and escaped from the black hole of Patrick's in Melbourne. Unfortunately now in the smaller black hole of Patrick's in Adelaide - but only until Thursday when it enters pre-delivery.

It will be in my hands early the next week.

Congrats man! It was painful when my MKV GTI was written off. A few months later I got a Polo GTI to take it's place for the (what turned out to be) almost 2 year wait for get another Golf! lol

Hey Ranga, my GTI was on the Manon also...I see it actually arrived in Melbourne on 14 April. My dealer told me it may be ready for delivery at the end of next week, but given its Easter, I'm not going to hold my breath. Let me know what you hear.

Not sure how yours was on the Manon and arrived on 14 April, I watched the Manon dock via Melbourne Ports webcam on Wednesday 20 April 10:58am. Maybe the Torino docked on the 14th, correct me if I am wrong as i know several others had cars on the Torino. The Manon hadn't even docked in Fremantle on the 14th.

I just checked the track and trace and there is an odd entry called "liner release" on the 14th, didn't pay that much attention to that, as I said it hadn't even docked in WA yet.

Doesn't matter we will both have our cars very soon.

My R was discharged from the Torino at Port Kembla on 13 April and arrived at my dealer (460km from Port Kembla) late on 20 April. Not a bad effort as I was expecting much longer for compliance, transport etc. It was ready to be picked up on Thursday afternoon but unfortunately I was out of town and so will have to wait until Wednesday morning. Stoneguard being done on Friday and Opti-coat and tint being done on Monday.
