Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • My car ordered on the 21 November 2010, I've just been advised by my dealer that it's due to dock in Melbourne 28 March 2011. That's fairly accurate from what they have advised. However, he is refusing to give me a NADCOM screen capture He says he isn't comfortable giving away VW information. Wished someone could get that for me..

Give your sales rep a call or send them an email. I would be intrested in what delivery date they give you....

          • At last!

Just received the phone call from my dealer, my 11 plated GTI will be ready for pick-up on Friday 14th 4pm, just in time for possibly the best weekend ever!

She was aboard the Aida, and was dropped off at Fremantle dock on the 17th December, so from port to dealer, to sitting in the drivers seat it will have been 4 weeks to the day. Hope this helps anyone else waiting on cars aboard the Aida.

This is the first time I have ever had to wait for delivery of a new car and it just about killed me, this forum has kept me somewhat sane, or perhaps pushed me further into GTI delirium. 4 days left...

Romp, I dont know how that could be - dealer is confident the compliance company(Patricks) wasnt open until today.. So I dont know how it would have been complied and delivered to the dealer on the same day...

well - my mate isnt the only one getting an Aida delivered vehicle this week. I highly doubt Patricks closed for so long. Tell the dealer to prove it by showing you the Patricks website that has your vehicle status (dealer's have their own log in to track cars).

My thoughts would be that Patricks are part of a publicly listed company (Asciano) and have contractual time and quality specifications that they must deliver to. Just because its Xmas doesnt mean they can let the ports stockpile with all the stuff Australian's import each day - there simply isnt enough room let alone room at Patricks for 2 weeks of cars to build up. That would cause a massive backlog that would screw up the remainder of the year.

                  • My dealer is strictly refusing to give me a NADCOM screen shot citing uneasy divulging VW information. Anyone knows of any other way I can obtain this information?

                    • It's the dealer's right to not provide you the information. The car isn't "yours" until you've paid in full...

Well... it wasn't "quick" - it took a month and a half - but yeah - it's gone now! To an ex MKV GTI owner who went from full time to part time in order to go back to uni. He was very surprised to find that Polo GTI (being Stage 1) was quicker than his Golf GTI. I told him not to be too upset by that... in some cases it's quicker than my Golf R, lol.

Hmnn, would you say that is roughly the time needed to do a private sale?

I have to plan the sale of a 2006 Mk5 and time it to roughly ETA of GTI.

                            • You can sell a car in a day, or in 6 months... I mean, you can only sell it once, and it only takes 1 person to buy it. It entirely depends on 1) The price you're willing to let it go for, and 2) how long it takes that 1 person to see your ad!

The Patricks (Terminals) that clears the cars from the boats/docks is different to the Patricks (Autocare) that transports the cars to the dealership for clearance. Basically, cars are cleared from docks within 3 days (Patrick Terminals work on weekends too) but then may take several days for Patrick Autocare to transport the car to the dealership and go through compliance, options, etc.
