How to track the car you have ordered?

I might be wrong but isn't the VIN number used to identify the car and the specs required for it? So that the required parts off the production line are assigned to a particular car?

Not the specs, just that it is a Golf - does not even differentiate between models as far as I am aware.

hcvo1 - that's right. The VIN will be allocated to the car prior to production, generally at the start of the production week. As you've said, it allows then to identify the car and what specs / parts they need to assign to it..

Having said that the dealership has told me a week 14 build hence I should have the VIN by the end of next week?

A VIN would be allocated to your car probably next week. You just need to see if your dealer can seethat VIN. With me, my car was built around week 8 (mid feb) but I wasn't told of th VIN until the end of feb. So there might be a bit of a delay in its communication. But you will def have it in approx 2-3 wks.

Ok going by that logic then week 10 would be end of Feb, Week 14 should be the end of March?

Thanks INOV8, the dealership also told me that it would be a week 14 build (when ever that is). All this after them telling me that the car was due to land on August 28 and delivery mid September... so you reckon 3-4 months or the mid-September delivery?

Well mine was handed over to production on the 17/02/10 (according the the schedule that i received) with delivery in late May. So i can only assume that it will be roughly the same for you. i will be asking my dealer for a VIN as mine should be on the water now.

Assuming yours was handed over to production on the 17/02/10 and you are looking at a late May delivery. So it roughly takes 3.5 months till delivery... Mine should be 3.5 months from now - so yes Mid-July

It never worked for me in Safari but does in IE8

Anyone with bigpond? I think it is either bigpond or my router stopping me from getting onto the site.
With my iphone on 3g i can get into the main page that is it.

Blah ill have to look into it more!

I have bigpond using mac and trying with safari and also IE8 in a VM'ed XP and i cant access it anymore. Never had this problem before though.
