I guess so but i havent purchased from Tyroola before. I have purchased from tyresales.com.au when buying for my wifes car and grabbed a bargain on 255/40/r21 for her SQ5.

Always check the manufacture date of tyres you buy (week and year is stamped onto the sidewall, eg 3920 is the 39th week of 2020) to make sure you arent getting super old stock. Ideally you want tyres no more than 12 months old.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve learned to read some of those letters and numbers on tyre but didn’t know about the age of tyres. Thought anything less than a couple of years old was fine. I’ll have a look at tyresales as well.

Btw what’s the difference between ZR and R? On my Pirelli it has ZR18 I think and looking at Michellin it has options of ZR and R - ZR has XL but not R and R is much more expensive. They are both 92Y. I presume AO means Audi on Michellin just like MO on Pirelli is Mercedes? All these letters and numbers.

The AO and MO etc denotes they were designed for a certain car manufacturer (eg MO is Mercedes).

XL usually means extra load (heavier cars)

ZR is a high speed rating (over 240kph) so will be used on higher performance tyres.

Thanks for that Lucas_R, what confused me was the difference between R and ZR as 92Y has load index and speed rating but it looks like it was an old way of indicating >240km/h in 1991 and now further categorised into Y and W on top of that in the service description.

Anyway I’m putting on Michellin Pilot Sport 4 at a local Jax store and didn’t go for AO as I was advised it’s just a bit of extra rubber to protect rims of Audi model cars. My current ones are Pirelli with MO and I don’t think it had made a huge difference being driven mostly by my wife.

Those pilot sport 4's are a good price @ $219 each. For normal street/sporty driving they will be great.

Yeah I can definitely feel the difference, very pleased with the performance. Reminds me of the very first time I got the GTI - sticks to the road and handles so well.

Just a quick question. I am in the process of the buying some old 18" wheels (2008 Golf R32). Will a 235 40 R18 tyre fit on it. I will be running on 2012 Golf TDI, with stock factory suspension and no modifications. Thanks

It says that 235 is the maximum width I can fit. Just want to check if it will be fine on a MK6 Golf TDI.
