I put that config to ~$64500 otr in NSW (based on 'premium bluetooth and without the cost of the extended warranty, since I don't know what VW charge for that). If you were able to get that for $56k drive away, then you'd be doing well! (and if you do, let me know the name of the salesman so I can buy my Golf R from him! hehe).

I have the standard bluetooth (about $800), Can you show me how you came to that figure??

The config you list, but with a $800 provision for bluetooth, and without the 3 year warranty, would equate to ~$62894 otr in NSW. To get it for $56k otr you'd need a $6894 discount, or roughly an 11% discount.

Mind you, if you check out mattyf83's post over in the Golf GTI Mark VI Specifications and Prices thread - he said he's been able to get his spec'd car for $49725 otr when it's RRP should be ~$55909 otr in NSW. So his saving was ~$6184 which is just over 11%!

There is hope yet!

Looks like you have been given about 3k off based on a dealer delivery of 3k! What does your quote detail??

hmmmm, so pretty good hey, Quote details: Candy White , manual, 5 door. only options include detroit wheels and bluetooth, other than that, it will have to be ordered as it is not dealer stock.

im not sure, at the beginning of negotiations it was $3300 or so but now im not sure how much it has been reduced to. so yeah the price is on road etc, sorry didnt specify

First of all i would like to thank all of you for writing about negotiating experiences you guys had when buying a GTI as that give me enough confidence when negotiating with dealer. I booked one yesterday, here is config

Total drive away price is $50500. Before anyone ask, there was no corporate benifits/discounts. Comments welcome .

That'd be about $56950 otr in NSW, so without looking up what the differences are for VIC, it's still probably the best non-corporate discount I've seen on here! Congrats

Thanks, mate. I dont know if it was good or not, i just tried my best. It was from Barloworld in glen waverley. That makes me wonder how much margin these guys have probably more than the manufacturer.

Well, we know for the fact that the reduction in import duties of 5% (if passed on) is only equiv to about 3% to the purchase price of the car. Thus you could approximate (since 5% and 3% are not really that precise) that the cost is 60% car from factory, 40% vw australia/dealer/retail/in country taxes. There are so many costs which VW Australia and the dealers have to pay out of that 40% that it's hard to know exactly how much margin they end up with, but yeah

i think no news about that from VW australia yet.
although MAZDA and HONDA have decided to pass that.
