Just an update for the Melbourne people. I've now spoken with Invisible Car Bra's (Couple $100 more for standard kit) and Ozishield. Neither will guarantee a perfect fitment of the entire bonnet piece so not sure what you guys up North or West have been told.

ICB wants about $1500 for the full bonnet and front bar pack which seems a bit excessive to me. As much as I hate panel beaters, it won't cost that much to respray, *if* required.

Anyway, shakespeare, your car looks absolutely stunning, the blue has come up looking magnificent. A real head turner and something to be proud of.

I got my R Ventureshield installed today by Ozieshield.

The kit installed well and truly exceeded my expectations.

The area's covered were:
* 1st half of the bonnet
* 1st half of the front gaurds
* the entire front bar
* headlamps
* the side & lower gloss black grille fins
* the main grille
* the wing mirrors
* and the rear bar top section - the area that cops the scuffs when the hatch is open

I will put some pics up tomorrow.

You cant tell its got it until you look and find the edges

Would you mind revealing how much it costs ya and how long does it take to have it applied?

Seems like a better idea than the fony "paint protection" liquids/sprays/sealants that dealers charge you a $1000 for and other places charge you ~$400 for, and whilst it sounds as though it will offer better protection from dirt and bugs and even swirling during washing, it's still not a physical barrier like Paint Protection Film is (3M/Venturesheild etc). Out of interest though, how much did it cost? Depending on cost, something like this might actually be a great solution in combination with a "partial" PPF kit.

Okay guys, the opticoat cost me $600 to have it applied, basically was about 5 hours work for the detailer and $170 for the actual product which incidentally you can do yourself. Personally for me I don't have time to wax my car to maintain the shine so I opted for something that seems to be a good product, basically means I wash it and occasionally run a shine type product and the super shine that it now has is maintained for about a year, at which time it will need a top up which is probably a third of the original cost. End result is I have a very shiny ride for little effort (more time to drive and enjoy!)

Incidentally I enquired about this in conjunction with the ventureshield type of product and the opticoat does not bond too well to the ventureshield, so I decided to not go down that path as I wanted shine

Corey_R, didn't go with the raps on the Caddies, went with decals for 1800 each. raps are great if colour separation is needed, otherwise the far cheaper laser cut decals are the G O... (yes paint fade is a problem)... oh yes, try to stay on topic please, mediators will come down hard on ya....
that said you could be right about quote and no I didn't mention I'd spout lyrical to the world and beyond. remember with the 3m film there is no printing... thinking,,, uuummmm the Black on Black picture of the B/B upgrade thats on the web had a very cool TRON thing going on.

Yep, I'm fully aware of the difference between the decals and the 3M Paint Protection Film. I'm also aware that we've got a forum full of people in states other than NSW who have been complaining about the expense of getting the 3M Paint Protection Film. $3000 is the cost of getting a "full car wrap" of this Paint Protection Film from the Sydney outfit which is so cheap that it has been causing everyone else on the forum to complain. Then you come along and quote $1650, which is as I said, almost $1000 cheaper than even the cheapest price I've had someone tell me via a PM, let alone what the cheapest known company advertises. Which is why I questioned that we're talking the same product and the same "conditions".

As for everyone complaining about pictures. I'll separate out this discussion when I have time. Don't stress, because our discussion is not stopping anyone from posting pictures. A thread with no talk won't generate more pictures either

Thanks for that update shakespeare. I too love shine. But for a car which will be driven on the roads, the shine only lasts so long before it's spattered with stone chips, and then that shine is less impressive. So for me, as not driving my car is not an option, preventing the stone chips is priority number 1.

I can confirm that G|Techniq is compatible with 3M Paint Protection Film and Ventureshield Stoneguard. So I'll stick with the G|Techniq.

Well don't think I posted in this thread, pictures in the other thread but here it is again, plus a few new products for paint protection, obviously doesn't stop paint chips but that's what a spray gun and a tin of paint is for

Nope, been purchasing stuff from Dave at waxit for a long time, though he has sold up now. The new mob seems ok still and they matched the prices from some online stores in the US.

I got a lounge room full of stuff and not to mention the other 4x shelves of stuff that I have used in the past, would have to be the most expensive wax I have ever purchased though so be interesting to see how it stacks up against some of the others, gets such great reviews I had to try it!

If you don't already use 303 aerospace the stuff is great go through a fair bit of the stuff but.

There's a bunch of different products out there, IMO for the most part they look the same. The difference is in how easily they can be applied and how long they might last, I don't think the price I paid for the above wax is worth it but we will see

P21S carnauba wax is probably one of my favourites, doesn't cost the earth and is a pretty nice product. Then you have the poorboys series which for the most part is ok but I have had some plastic trim discolour which they advertise their products don't do. Autoglym make some fairly nice products as well but some of them can be a little harder to work with.

Open ended answer really.. depends what you want.. we could get the whole wax v synthetics conversation going which would do your head in, and then it is a question of effort on your part.

If you dont mind spending 2 days working the car up from clay then for that effort go the full gammit and spend several hundred on product. If you just up to the wash and wax then go the Mothers or Megs path.. still a good outcome but for a lot less cash.

If you like to do this sort of thing every 6 moths or so then look at synthetics.. they last longer are pretty inexpensive but do a good job and take little to apply. For mine the wax looks deeper and wetter though it is a 3 to 6 month effort proposition..
