Oh sorry, dave-, I missed that question until Big_Dave quoted you. Surface Tech (previously Ozi Cozi) seem to be the premiere installers of this in Sydney. There's also another group called Advanced Surface Tech (previously Universal Shield until Ozi Cozi changed their name to Surface Tech... so probably to be called something else after the lawyers figure things out, lol).

I've spoken to both companies in the past few weeks. I visited Surface Tech on the weekend, and they'll be doing a detail on my Polo GTI on Tuesday. They'll also be installing a decent amount of PPF on my R in December, as well as putting on the G|Techniq Nano Quartz sealant over the PPF and paintwork.

As for you Big_Dave, I know that Maverick has mentioned Duco Scratch several times who are located off the Pacific Motorway, about half way between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise.

Sure, OziShield Paint Protection Film Home Page

It's best if you get this installed BEFORE you start driving your car. Because any chips or swirls which are existing will forever be there.
Also, they need to strip off any wax or sealants which are already in place so that the film adheres properly. So having this put on after the dealers have put their "magical fairy dust" etc is a waste of money (well, I mean, you already wasted your money, and this is actually going to do something unlike the magical fairy dust... but yeah).

          Thank you Corey_R...

Mine is still in good condition, so hopefully not too late to get it installed...

            Hi Fab_R,

I use a polish called Zaino, it is synthetic, it is American and you cannot buy it from the shops. you can read about it here Zaino Store

            Australian importer : Home

I have been using it for years and it is very easy to apply and polish. As the polish is synthetic, you can apply as many coats as you like, the more you apply the wetter it looks especially for dark colour paintwork. Unlike wax, each time you apply, it melts the coat below it, so you always going to have 1 coat. Wax does not last very long, Zaino last for months.

Read about it and make your own decision

            Cheers

Actually, plenty of companies in Australia have Zaino products, including Final Inspection where rs73 mentioned that he had his car "protected".

But we're talking about two completely separate things here.
One is a paint sealant (waxes, polishes, sealants, nano coats etc).
The other is an actual mylar derived film which gets "wrapped" onto your car and then the sealants/waxes etc go ontop of it! It was developed by 3M and the US Military to stop continual rotor blade failures due to sand blasting on helicopters in the first Gulf War.

Put it this way. After you put Zaino on your car, would feel confident driving your front bumper along a concrete wall? How about shooting it with a shotgun? What about raming another car into it?

All three of these things can occur without any paint damage if you have a Paint Protection Film applied. Sure, with the latter two, you'll need some dent removal or panel beating, lol, but your paint will still be ok!

Btw, there are forum members who have had two of those three things occur to their cars with PPF, and their paint was fine too. So it's not just "internet video wizardry" which can support these claims.

Don't get me wrong, Zaino products ARE excellent, and you SHOULD use them. But not as a replacement for PPF if you value protecting your car from stone chips and other projectiles

Thanks Corey for that info, I wasn't aware of what PPF is. What you have said sounds great to me.

I've got my car pre-booked in for mid Dec also to get the ventureshield applied and he is also trying to convince me to get the G Techniq paint protection done as well, do you know if it's any good as i haven't heard of it before?

                    • It's a similar type of sealant that I the dealers get someone to apply and charge you $1000 for.
Unlike the dealer's magic fairy dust, the G|Techiq is at least advertised with a 5 year guarantee - although Surface Tech say it lasts about 2 to 3 years.

I kinda figure that since the car is already prepared for the wrap, and this goes on the wrap and on the paint, it seems like an alright deal.

Hehe that was all good but didn't have anything to do with Melbourne hehe

Ozi also doesn't mention that other sealant stuff you mentioned. I know what has happened to previous cars with all the twisty runs and skidpan days etc so happy to spend a bit keeping it looking best!

                        Will definately be doing it

I have both Ventureshield and GTechniq on my car and can honestly say that I am happy as larry with them. The bloke from Perth Graphics Centre went out of his way to put additional Ventureshield on at no extra cost which I was chuffed about and the GTechniq was applied everywhere, even on my wheels. Cost me $1500 for it all.

Ventureshield wise I would recommend the following areas (as I have them done)

                          - Full Bonnet
                          - Full Bumper and fron trim
                          - Full front quarter panels
                          - Full A-pillars
                          - Rear bumper scuff area

Only problem I have noticed with Ventureshield is that every so often if I get some pollen on it there is a slight stain until I put some major elbow grease in it to get out. Otherwise I am chuffed with it.

See below for a picture of my car with it on and you can't even notice it. I have had the car fo almost six months and haven't had to apply wax once.

That's where i'm getting mine done, Tony seems to know his stuff.

Did you negotiate that price with him? seems a bit cheaper than i've been quoted and that's with less ventureshield applied.

I used Ozishield for mine in Melbourne. Job was very good, had the package installed advertised on their website plus under the door handles to stop fingernail scratches. Very happy with it and as far as I am concerned money well spent.

I got it done the same time as another bloke I work with got his car done. He just quoted me that price without me having to haggle with him. If you play the uncertainty card he may be more willing to discount on the price for you.

Though if it is a Golf R that you have it may be a custom Ventureshield job as he may not have the stencils in his program which can automatically cut out the shapes for a given car.

No harm in trying to negotiate either way.
