Of course, your ECU is a different type being diesel and all, but I can check yours at some stage too, before you go to the dealer. My car is booked in for a service in two weeks, and there's no way I'm taking it in with fault codes on it.

A mate of mine works for the ad agency, that comes up with their adverts. My favourite at the moment is 'Reduce carbon emissions, walk to the pub'.
I drive past it twice a day at the airport and it still brings a smile to my face, just like the liquid does....

I'm sure we can sort something out. My beer fridge is a bit empty too.
I can confirm that the comms errors are logged when loading in the maps with the ST3, and that the unit itself is not capable of detecting them or clearing them. It would appear that Vagcom, V-Checker, or any other such device is still required to clear them. I assume the ST3 doesn't see them because they are not actually DTC's, just logged comms errors. As Guy has already mentioned you actually have to go into each module that has the alarm and clear it - not just the ECU.

Thanks one more time for your wealth of information mrx. What type of beer do you drink?
I promise you there'll be some liquid in that fridge soon.
I can see that there's no way out of it, I'm going to have to get myself a VAG-COM to solve this problem.
I haven't loaded my maps yet but am about to do so now. Have you taken yours for a drive yet ???Last edited by Roobuls; 04-06-2008, 10:28 PM.

I'm not sure how strong your resolve is, but the chances of the ST3 arriving, and me not applying the tune immediately, are very slim indeed!!
I can certainly help you replenish your seriously diminished stocks of amber liquid though.Former GT Sport TDI owner.

I have read tha above and the errors are comms errors where the central convenience modules lose data during the writing process, when the modules communicate with there given data input the errors dissapear.
If you think of it like a guy being hit on the head and losing memory but as soon as he is told something is right he learns and that part of the problem is gone.
From our experience after a drive of a few miles all errors are gone.

Okay, now that is very refreshing to read that the error codes will disappear eventually. I hope this is truly what happens.
I've just loaded up the "fast road" map and gone for a drive around my neighbourhood. As there wasn't anywhere that I could really test it around here I'll still need to drive it more. So far my impression is that the power that's available is more complete. Available sooner, holds on a bit longer and turbo lag is less noticeable. At lower speeds (as I was testing tonight) it's not hugely different, but it definitely feels better than it was.

After doing 90km they were still there yesterday and i used VCDS to remove them.
