But of course, if they are mean old crooks.. they won't give a ***** and are just out to sell them all and move on!
I never do Ive been an avid Ebayer for over 5 years and know exactly how the system works, its just wait and see now ?

Yeh amazes me how quick some people post feedback, especially for electronics. Yeh the waiting game begins. The unit does look like a wonderful upgrade thats for sure!

I was looking at the cost of a RCD510 to buy used and there's only several hundred dollars difference between the 2 units. This surprised me actually. Anyways, if you sold your RCD for a RNS, maybe the hit woldnt be so great? Not sure I'd be bothered in your shoes tho.

RNS 510's don't come with a code card from VW and haven't since they were released, VW stopped shipping code cards with most cars in later 2007/early 2008 depending on the car and it's origin. You can buy blank code cards from the dealer and put the code on there yourself.

If you're performing the simple job of resetting the pin you can either reflash with the same code on every unit or have a number of different epproms with different codes. Supply your printed VW code card and the user is none the wiser.

From memory there is also a 20GB hard drive that the RCD510 does not have. So you can store music and not have to worry about carrying a MP3 player or ipod everywhere.

I think you'll be happy, I've had mine for nearly 2 months, and not a hitch.. touch wood.. purchased from the same seller

I also ordered one last night from the UK seller. Will keep you all updated on the outcome. I also got the premium bluetooth module when I ordered.

Thanks for the info Mav, didn't know this was the case. I'm now wiser for the post.....perhaps it is "hot". However, I'm yet to have a hitch and it's been in for a number of weeks now. Only just left feedback the other day when it was up and running for about five weeks.

No-one is bringing Harding/Volkspower's reputation to question, nor has Guy offered to the OP, this component of his business. However, I find your rallying to Harding/Volkspower's defence a little 'questionable'.
All I was doing was giving you my history with the unit. At this point in time, a 66% failure rate. I'm extremely glad I bought the way I did.

I have no association with either of the companies I mentioned, other than the fact that they did the work for me.

As the units dont come with a owners manual i bought one from the states for $22 delivered , it has 131 pages so i thought i might as well buy one.

The US unit has different firmware to the european unit we get and as such the manual is different.

Your local VW dealer can order you one for under twenty dollars.

Yep, As Maverick said, the genuine specific one is in stock at your local VW dealers cheaper than importing one.

I think the operational side of things would be the same, there might be a few techinal things but other than that should be the same,
besides 2 trips to the VW dealer would cost more in time and fuel.

The Northern American model has Sirius Radio, HD Radio, different buttons, different firmware and an older software look and feel so it's not just technical areas that are different.

There's always the telephone, fax or email to order it and delivery is also an option.

Ive just spent half an hour on the phone to the Nepean motor Group/VW The spare parts person could find no listing for the RNS 510 manual and he said that $22 was cheap as most of the user manuals cost in the vicinity of about $60 and seeing there are 131 pages in the manual i can see why .
He asked me to supply a parts number as he cant find one listed ?

Give my mechanic in my sig a call, can do the install and coding for you.
