I've been with AAMI for several years, and had a claim a few years back, my fault. I took it to the assessment centre and the guy realised I loved the car and sent me out to get two quotes from their list of repairers. I went to the one I was less keen on first, then the one I wanted second who beat the first quote by like $50 and the job was booked. Assessor from AAMI even went out to check how the repair was going, and it came back better than new. I'm sure there are good and bad stories, but I certainly haven't had a bad AAMI experience. I think the problem is a lot of people don't want to do the running around for quotes themselves, but I said up front I was an ex panelbeater ( a part time YR 10 job ) and was happy to do so.

Young guys get ripped, when I was shopping for a golf, the GTI quote was mid $600. I was 38 back then though!
