AS he said, you can shop around buy from the cheapest, regardless of where in Oz you bought.
Also, can be done at time of purchase or later, just as long as the factory warranty is current.
Of course, delaying risks a higher price. But if its going on credit maybe they cancel each other out.

Guys just to let you know. I bought the VW used car extended warranty (underwritten by Allianz) for my Jetta. It is a 3yr 200k warranty with no limitation on parts claimed. Bottom line it was $1400.

It can't be the build date, otherwise, owners stand to lose up to 1 year of warranty in some cases.

Thanks guys, just wanted to confirm the obvious.
I had a friend tell me that although his car was picked up in December, a dealer said that his warranty as logged by VW actually finished before December???, and he needed to get the extended warranty asap???
Anyways, sounds like a communication error or something, I would have thought it was from the purchase date.

i have confirmed that the car i just bought first registered 08/08/08 has an expiration of 29th of july on its warranty possibly due to when vw delivers the car to the dealer ???

My extended warreny commenced at the end on my VW 3 year warreny. The Alliaze VW is how this works.
