Yes you can, read the thread, in particular the pages since October when the price went up.

I bought my Passat in 2006 on release. At the time there was only option to purchase 2 years extended warranty.

Does anyone know if I can purchase 1 more year now? My extended warranty will end in August.

My understanding and from someone who was in a similar situation is that no you cannot extend the warranty but contact them directly and ask them as they may make exceptions.

I have raised a similar thread in the Mk6 one (as I bought one for my 1mth old GTI a few days ago to get the 30 June special) and paid $1,726 (down from $2,590 RRP) and was told that I could get one from Sydney (same Ts and Cs) for $1,400 from someone inthe MkV thread. Not that I am caring about $300 or so, but I recall a couple of years back when I looked at a MkV it was a lot cheaper at $1,500 or so. Did VW actually increase the base cost when the Mk6 came out??

Yes you can get it cheaper, I picked mine up cheaper then the quoted prices in this thread from the dealer I purchased from a few months ago but mainly because I take my car there for all servicing and I purchased my car there. They're not making a lot of money on it at the discounted price and $1726 is still a good price. The first price they gave me was around $1700-1800 and I explained that I had a quote from a Sydney dealer and they agreed to match it (although they did end up doing a little better). $1430 or $1726, it's still good value no matter which price you paid.

After recently buying a used Multivan I investigated the extended warranty issue and this thread in particular has been very useful.

As per other comments I shopped around and ended up buying mine from Mario Tutek at Southern Classic in the Gong.

Outstanding service and a very competitive price. Highly recommended.

Both this thread and the PDS say yes. As long as you buy it within the factory warranty period and meet certain requirements.

For those who use an independent to service their car, I recently undertook a claim on my Polo GTI with the Allianz extended warranty to replace a leaking radiator. I was able to get him to replace the radiator under the extended warranty without any issues.

Got my extended NEW CAR warranty yesterday from chatswood classic. $1,161.00 for my 2.0 FSI Pacific Auto. They are very friendly, look for Joel. Jamil and Rashid are now based in different Inchape companies so they dont do warranties anymore.
