Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty

Just a quick note - had a communication from the guys at Chatswood VW (Amit, David and Rashid - been taliking with them all the past few days), just after 5 this afternoon and they've sorted the full VW extended warranty for me!
I can't speak highly enough of each of them - polite and keen to help doesn't seem enough. Don't know how much till tomorrow, but their service has been just fantastic. I live near Port Macquarie, but will definitely be keen to give them my service business if that's the way they treat distant customers!

Either take the car to a VW dealer (which is best especially under extended warranty) or to someone who is a specialist and has been recommended via the various forums.
Certainly if you'd brought something like a VW to me back when I was swinging on spanners, i would have ruined the poor thing within minutes ;-p Come to think of it, some fool trusted me with a series 1 RX7 once. I told him I didn't have a clue.... thank God for professional indemnity insurance.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

Ha! I do think I'd feel a bit more secure having service performed by a VW specialist workshop/dealer service centre, especially while it's under warranty.
OK... Rashid Mahbub, Amit Kohli and David Haddo, all contactable through Chatswood VW, and all of whom I spoke to during the week, secured the VW Allianz extended new car warranty for me for $1438, even though the 2.0 TDi DSG GT Sport I am buying was a few days out of its normal 3 year new car warranty. This is $1152 below book price, and is apparently a pretty standard discount if you mention VW Watercooled! Each of them was a pleasure to deal with, and I would unhesitatingly recommend arranging your extended warranty through any one them.
They also offer a 3 year wheel & tyre warranty, to cover damage to alloy wheels and replacement of up to 2 tyres a year (covers damage, not wear) for $530.
Been an interesting week... after having been given the flick by the local VW dealer in Port Macquarie just one day after the original warranty expired - he said there wasn't any chance that Allianz would consider it. The next day I spoke with Amit Kohli at Chatswood, gave him the details of the vehicle, and left it to them. Apparently they will take each case on its merits...
Pays to shop around!
Jamie.

Just bought extended warranty for the Touareg off them. Quotes I got ranged from $3480 to $4990 but Chatswood was $2772. Used some of that saving to buy 22" rims for the car. Great service and really pleasant to deal with unlike some other stealers I contacted about the warranty.08 Touareg V6 TDI

contact the people mentioned at Chatswood VW. Tell them you are from VWwc & they will give you their best price straight off. Buy it from them. DOn't buggerise around being disappointed by other dealers.

Any one of the three I mentioned will help you out, I dealt with Amit Kohli primarily, but they were all on the same track, and will simply quote you around half the price of most other dealers - the dealer here in Port Macquarie wanted almost $3K on the day the original warranty expired, and said goodbye to me the day after, after telling me that Allianz would not consider it beyond that day.
I read of the good deeds of those mentioned in this thread, contacted Chatswood VW (Yellow Pages are great!), explained that by then the car was 3 days out of warranty. Amit asked for the vehicle details & service history, and suggested I leave it to him... which I did, and he came back to me later the same day with a quote of $1438 since I mentioned VWwc.
Great service, polite and extremely pleasant to deal with, all of them. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking assistance.
Picked the car up on Good Friday and LOVE it, but I also got my new BMW K1300S m/c the same day, so I'm torn between the two at the moment!
