Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty

I have a 5 year warranty through National Warranty group on my 2008 2.0TDI DSG with 40K on the clock at purchase. I think that its unlimited KM's, they offer various levels of cover depending on the age of the car and k's on the clock when you take out the warranty, not to sure if you can buy one at any stage?? or only when purchasing a car. I got mine with the finance on the car and it cost $1650-, Cover seems good ie up to $3000 on some part if they go wrong. You can also have the car serviced where you like but it must be done every 6 mths, then just fax them a copy of the invioice so that they can see that the work is being maintained.

plus having to get your car serviced twice as often, and then it only covering $3k when things like a DSG can still cost $5k after labour etc... plus it's just as expensive (more so even) than the actual REAL Volkswagen Factory Warranty...

These $1500 warranties that some people have been getting... are they actual VW warranties, or 3rd party? I just got a quote for $2590 off a VW dealer for an "official manufacturer extended warranty". Does this sound about right?MY09 Golf GT TSI

Too many pages to check but is the group buy price mentioned (post #46, page 5) no longer available ? And my car servicing has been a little tardy, time wise (2-3 months over), because I do so few km's (30,000km service due at 18,000km). Does this mean I can't get a valid extended warranty ?

anyone in sydney just purchased extended warranty? I have contacted chastwood classic twice via phone and they said their business manager will call me back but I haven't receive any phone call yet. Also tried emailing them, and no reply.
I believe the VW extended warranty is underwritten by Allianz.
