No, you can buy non vw warranty from dealerships. They all act independently on this and all have preferred suppliers. Just in the specific instance, vw burwin stated they don't sell the Allianz product.

For genuine article give Eric @ VW Burwin a call..He quoted me $1795 for 2 yr unlimited km VW warranty(keep in mind my car is '09 118TSI with Low kms)
Overall it depends on the model/age/kms on your car, but i found the following to be the best:
Kathy Wood, Business Manager @ Klosters VW: 1300 584 163. She was the cheapest for what I was after. Mention my forum user id when you speak to her.
I also found Anna Hayward, Business Manager, Moss Vale Motor Group to also be quite competitive. (02) 4868 1055
In the end, i went for the Allianz Extended Manufacturer Warranty, Extension of time...that is, 3year extension up to 100,000kms. I'm still under <30k and only do approx 10k/yr
Hope that helps!09 Golf 118TSI DSG

I just compared the PDSs, and as VeeDub23 stated above, the only differences between the Allianz New Vehicle Warranty Policy and the VW New Vehicle Extended Warranty Insurance Policy are:
Allianz VW 100,000 kms since new No km limit Limited towing, hire cars, travel and locksmith costs Road Assist Parts of similar quality Genuine VW parts

Local dealer person offered 2 year @ $1390 with Australian Dealer Insurance. Never heard of them so do a search... first post that comes up is them saying a DSG problem at 45,000km is "wear and tear" and they don't want to pay. Goodbye ADI.
Dealer also tells me Allianz deal is now only 2 years and $2950/24 months, $2350/12 months for a Mk5 GTi. Currently 10 % discount till end of the month brings it down to $2681/24 months. No cheaper for low km's. Rang Allianz "VW Insurance" and they said they don't sell direct. Even with the 10% off, you have to wonder whether it's worth it for a 3 y.o. GTi with less than 25,000km, doing about 8,000 km per year.

So got a quote from Leaseworks for their Allianz insurance product (seems there are many different Allianz products). PDS looks pretty good, with no mention of the $2000 limit like some.
"As discussed I can offer you the following warranties for your GTI Golf
24 months Extension of Time from Allianz for $1278.58
36 months Extension of Time from Allianz for $1492.86
These are full bumper to bumper warranties & include paint, panel, interior trim, consequential glass & exhausts"
Anybody dealt with them ? There's a few forum posts that mention Leaseworks, but none about a claim.

Just purchased my 3yr extended warranty yesterday. Was told there has been a significant price increase on the Allianz products. Thought I'd put it out there as it may mean prices quoted in this forum are not really comparable.09 Golf 118TSI DSG

I read the PDF and was happy with it. It was better than the Allianz product PDF offered by my local VW dealer, and a lot cheaper as well. $1500 bumper to bumper thru Allianz for 3 years sounds good to me.
