the sunglass holder is... Part of the reason i switched to raybans from oakley gascans.
They fit!
Plus i'm far more fashionable now. Ha

My raybans fit too.
Only just though, but they're quite wide.


I havent had my car long enough (havent driven it yet - properly anyways) to fault it. I'm sure anything I find wont be too serious though.

They must all be like that because I've heard several people comment on the same thing, they're pretty air tight I think is the main reason. If you put a window down a bit and then have everyone try and close their doors they will most likely close first go. I generally wait along side the car now and hold my door ajar and wait for anyone else with me to get out and close their doors first, that way I don't have to yell at them for trying half a dozen times to do it

Two things that are annoying are the lack of a light around the ignition key at night. Yeah, Ive almost know where it is now but I still stab it or end up using my finger to feel the keyhole. Weird since my mkv does have nice overhead red lights.

Wouldn't be a problem if we were in a left hand drive country.

- Sungalss holder is sh*t (it houses my garage door opener)
- Sunglasses are stowed in my draws under seat which is a good idea but draws dont fi much either
- The centre console happening to go all the way up before it can be closed again
- I like my VW bottle opener and the drinks console in the middle (wish it could be chilled though with use of aircon)
- My glovebox doesnt allways appear to close properly eg. wil pop up just driving around
- Yes 1 rattle (and i only have 1 rattle) bit i cant ork out where the hell it is!

That's what I thought. ESP imcludes two other components, one is ABS, the other is ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) - an electronic LSD.

no, a propper LSD is something totally different to the ESP system. sure there is that ASR system but thats like a half ass electronic method that doesnt work as it applies the breaks and cuts too much power.
my mates JCW cooper S has one and it allows him to power out of corners sooner, faster, with less understeer whilst NOT spinning up the bloody inside wheel. a car with as much power and torque as a GTI should of came from factory with one.

LSD is a mechanical device that transfer torque from inside wheel to outside wheel. it allows you to put on power earlier to exit corner faster;

ESP is an electrical system that kills power by applying brake to which ever wheel(s) that the ECU thinks it's losing grip.

both should reduce understeer and wheel spin but LSD makes the car faster while ESP makes the car slower.

This has to do with aerodynamics.

How rigid do you want the car? It has to have some flex or it will end up in pieced. The MKV is one of the most rigid cars around.

? This has been well known for at least 18 months that it was coming out towards the end of 2008 or start of 2009. The original plan for the Mark 6 was 2010/2011 but it was brought forward due to the costs in producing the Mark 5.
