never mind, i found it...

amend byte "0001ED"

Amend the second digit only to get the different effects:

3 - displays only e.g. "30" becomes "33"
5 - gauges only
7 - displays and gauges only
9 - needles only
B - displays and needles only e.g. "30" becomes "3B"
D - Needles and Gauges only
F - all lit up

Does that work on the normal dash, or just on your awesome full MFD setup?

You can certainly do the linear temp gauge.

Those warnings only come up on an FIS, but there is possibly an unused "bulb" warning in the MFA cluster if you look closely at the rows of warning lights.

Ive started opening up mkIV clusters and putting different leds on the PCB


Done one with white Numbers and Blue Needles... etc

Going to do one with the Red Marks on the Red line to Blink for shifting..

not interested in doing one that has the LEDs chasing the needle thou..

ok so Anton (HitmanR32) has been lazy so I'll post up the pics of the install we did in my car over the weekend

Swapping a Immo3 w/ CAN gateway cluster in to a pre 2000 Immo1 Cluster with NO MFA or CAN Gateway..

Its do-able but we still have a few minor outstanding issues at hand... (All Due to the Car not originally having a CAN Gateway)

- Fuel Economicality meter doesnt get any reading
yet Air Temp, Distance to Empty, AVG Speed and Clock do
- Cluster Lights dont Dim..
- Airbag light on even though Airbag controller is functioning 100% but the Can Gateway in the Cluster cant see it .. as the Airbag controller is a early one designed to operate independant of CAN Gateway... so the light shows but systems are 100% functional

however Anton thinks he has a resolution so will look at finishing the job in the next week or two

Apparently thou this will probably be easily resolved by Plugging in a few extra cords here and there (here is hoping...) need to nut out the wiring diagrams..

This is the thread we used for that had what wire needed to go where.. but it didnt cover the minor issues we are having..

Anyone want to lend me there vag tacho cable, I want to program a new key and enable some cluster functions. Happy to pay a deposit and usage fee of some sort

Fizz..you can turn off the instantaneous fuel consumption display if you like...seeing as it doesn't work anyway.

There is a byte to turn off the ABS light as well.

Hi Graeme, yeah the ABS light was disabled in the end. Looks like the CCM needs 2 be upgraded to the later model 2 get everything working 2 much hassles so I'm just driving with it as is. Will pop the original cluster back in when the time comes 2 sell the car and sell the sports cluster on it's own.
But that's still a very long way away lol

Out of curiosity if I was to get a Bora/Passat/R32 cluster - would someone like yourself be able to make it work in an early MkIV? Or were there significant computer differences?

if your golf doesn't have an MFA like mine then't you have the same issues that I'm having, but if your car has an MFA then it'll be fine

There are rumours that if you get the full MFA rather than Half MFA it is compatible with the early Mk4's without MFA.
