Competed in my first Hillclimb today and to good result. Ended up overall around 4th or 5th i think out of 57 which i was stoked with. I was beaten by what appeared to be a race/rally setup wrx, clubman on slicks and R32 GTR that was balistic. The bora handled the punishment without missing a beat. 19psi all day and 4 - 5k rpm launches saw it getting off the line well, i think my first sector times were consistently about 3rd or 4th quickest all day.
From this i know my suspension is definitely far too soft, R32 golf suspension although firmer that stock, it just isn't enough for compeditive events. I'd also love a haldex controller as well as a rear LSD... if only the wallet agreed
. Better tires would be a great help too especially at the top of the course where it has multiple hairpins in a switch back arrangement which is all in 1st gear. Basically through these sections i was just burning rubber usually 1 front and 1 rear tyre or sometimes all 4 in a big awd drift
The car handled everything beautifully and it certainly grabbed a huge amount of attention from the crowd, so many people couldn't believe a VW Bora was tearing up the hill so quickly! Love the surprise factor
I've got plenty of video all High Definition from both inside and outside the car at different parts of the track which i'll complile, compress and put up soon
