  • Loving the work that is being done to this. Much respect for the time, money, dedication and effort.

Having a Bora 4mo is unique enough, turbo charging it and pushing towards 300kw's is a whole new level!

Any reason why you didn't consider getting a bigger battery? You buy off the shelf battery boxes that don't look too bad and can house nice sized batteries.

    Dat cluster <3
Will you get all the hidden little readout features like the Range to empty etc ?

Bigger battery is heavier and takes up more space. This is also dry cell, so no need for a fancy battery box, as there is no acid to leak.

Yep plenty of extra features on the full face cluster. Pretty cool bit of technology!

Nice, could do with one of these badges myself.

I've just built an R32 Bora 4motion with the intention to boost it next year or so.

Really impressive build, it's the reason why I've come on to this forum even though I'm located in the UK.

Sorry if I missed it but how did you got about relocating the battery to the boot? Have you relocated the fuse holder to the boot as well? I was looking to try and do this as OEM as possible by possibly using MK5 R32 parts.

            Thanks dude!

Nah fuse holder is still in stock location.

I have it the positive cable running through the circuit breaker and straight to the starter motor. The starter motor is then linked to the fuse box. Negative cable runs through a kill switch to the front as well. Got a link to a build thread? Would be keen to see it!

            • Would the battery not fit in the area where the CD changer fits?

That's where I have it. Still need to finish making the bracket to hold the battery to the back plate though.

My CD changer is in the compartment where the first aid box lives, not on the outside.

Any photos showing the location of the fuse holder in the bay?

Yeh don't know why we got them in the boot. My LHD R32 had the 6 stacker in the first aid pocket too.....

Not really any photos, no. The car is 5 hours away from me too, so can't really get any for a while lol. But it just sits straight under the pod filter.

Finished off catch can lines, made up a bracket for the battery, wired up a relay for the external 044 fuel pump, finished hooking up all the vacuum lines and fitted a temporary manual boost controller. Seb has wired up an ignition circuit, similar to this:

Put some petrol in it and finally plugged in VCDS to scan and see what codes we have to deal with. That's when the drama started. Whole list of codes, basically not getting power to half of the ECU. May need another ECU. Fair to say I was pretty annoyed. Was planning on trying to start the car...

But seriously, hope it's a quick and easy fix whatever it is

                            • Well not much to report unfortunately (as per usual!).
Managed to track down an ECU from America, which I have sent to United Motorsports. Hopefully they don't **** this ECU. Dealing with them has been like pulling teeth. Would be going with a different tuner if I had my time and money over again. They might be fine for the local guys in America, but safe to say, they don't care about customer service for overseas clients at all /rant.

In other news, managed to pick up a MFD from grtuned while I was up at GAD for the weekend. Really nice guy to deal with.
Will swap the Alpine Dual din DVD player currently in this car, into my Black V5. Everybody wins!

                              • Installed some 334mm 2 pot R32 brakes with brake cooling ducts last weekend. Also fitted my 17x8 et35 Oz wheels with Kuhmo semi slicks.
