lol fair enough. I was thinking of reinstalling it in a similar place using a grinding stone and a rotary tool to make it fit nice. but there is always that worry of cracking the new console, tough choice. Post once it's in and add in where you ended up putting fuel release

No worries for other stuff, but I won't be much help on the engine, as I didn't do my 1.8T engine swap/GTI Conversion. It was done by Matt and Co at Camden GTI, with both cars side by side.Originally posted by dubster99 View PostDepending on how long it takes me to start it ill be contacting you kenbot
Stan did his own, and had help over the phone from Matt with the tricky bits I believe..Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...

yes i did my own install of the engine.
It went in with the gearbox and axles all on the k frame and installed as a single unit.
Matt was a great help. Gav and Jmac are wiring gurus. Happy to help in any way I can

I wouldn't pull the engine apart un-necessarily. I'd probably do the belt, water pump etc while it's easy to get at. No point creating work and expense. I might get a clutch kit too, again for ease of fitting.

Yeah, I did water pump, timing belt kit etc while it was out. Should've done clutch too in hindsight, but had to make a call, and thinking ECS kit wouldn't have been delivered in time... But it would've.Originally posted by h100vw View PostI wouldn't pull the engine apart un-necessarily. I'd probably do the belt, water pump etc while it's easy to get at. Don't worry about going too hard (chasing KW), now and again when I give it a crack, I don't get that much traction and I only have an APR stage 1 tune! No cold air intake, no FMIC, stock exhaust.Dark Grey Mk4 Golf, 1.8T GTI conversion, APR stage 1, stock air intake, FMIC, 3" to 2.5" Exhaust, FK AK Street Coils, Black 18" (Avant Garde M310's ?), tinted tails, ...

The engine haa 188kms on the clock so i dont want it dying on me. All i know it has a oettinger tune but dont know how many kms. Would like to get stronger pistons and run a bigger turbo.Originally posted by kenbot View PostDon't worry about going too hard (chasing KW), now and again when I give it a crack, I don't get that much traction and I only have an APR stage 1 tune!
