I installed my A-Pillar pod and VDO boost gauge last night. The passenger side wiper was an absolute bastard to get off....and i found that my pollen filter cover/drain broke when i replaced it the other month. I'm going to get a heat gun, fix it and mod it so the part at the back that always breaks off is bent back a bit to help with refitting....I really don't understand how those things can be installed without breaking them
After much stuffing around though the gauge is working. I'm going to finish the electrics of it today, hopefully before the two-up games beginsigpic

Today, I ordered the following:
* 1 x ECS MK4 Golf / Jetta / New Beetle Front Suspension Refresh Kit - Stage 2
* 2 x Upper Strut Stop
* 2 x Upper Stut Cap-Priced Each
* 1 x "Short Reach" Triple Square Driver Set
* 1 x Spindle Housing Spreader Tool
ECS wanted USD$130 for shipping for that. I've organised to pay less than AUD$80 for the shipping. So the whole lot will come in at just under AUD$600 to my door.
I also installed my Philips X-Treme Power headlight bulbs and the Philips Blue Vision W5W sidelight bulbs today. That was skin-removing, wrist-burning, wish-I-had-one-of-those-mirrors-dentists-use-to-see-around-corners fun! Hopefully I'll be replacing the foglight bulbs tomorrow (once I figure out how to remove the cover for the fog/indicator bulbs).Last edited by Manaz; 25-04-2009, 09:56 PM.Nothing to see here...

For those that don't read my little thread...
So this evening I had the pleasure of disassembling my front bumper ready to take it to the spray shop on Tuesday for shiny new paint. What a wonderful job that is.
Some photos of what's going to be repaired:
The mystery scratch...
Front bar scrapes from before and the beginning of my ownership...
Decided to remove the number plate holder and get the holes filled. A slimline plate for the front is on the way...
Nakedness...
The mysterious additional radiator...
BMC CDA intake hose now with added Cat...
How many torx screws does it take for the full installation of a R32 bumper? 1,374,852 that's how many...
Add another 1,945,710 clips for the screws and other miscellaneous clips and screws etc...
Bumper bits and pieces which are attached by the 3,320,562 screws and clips shown above...
Cheers,
Trentsigpic

Got some Turtlewax ICE Liquid Clay Bar on Saturday, and proceeded to wash, clay bar, polish and wax the car. The paint is looking very fresh now...
I used Meguiars Wet Look Polish and Meguiars Gold Class Wax btw.
So much reflection. Good work.

I thought it was easy to use, and after that step of the process i could already see that the car was looking very clean (compared to after the normal wash). I didn't get rid of all my swirlies/light scratches, particularly on the roof, but i think that was simply me not spending as much time on some panels as others. The bonnet and doors came up particularly good.
It's the first time i've used any sort of clay bar product so i can't make any product comparisons. It definitely showed me that this step is worth it once in a while though.sigpic
