Lol bloody hell... I hope this never happens to me.

Are you still running the dual mass flywheel?

Pedal has a metal tab which breaks off needs to be welded back. Well documented on forums.

Happened to me 4 up on the Dayboro road one Sunday. RACQ job. I did have it all in bits with my leatherman, could have done it at the side of the road if there had been a MIG welder on the truck.

Was 2 hours from breakdown to driving again.

          Bad luck there though Chris.....

Lindsey, next time you are on holidays. maybe take it out and get it welded up.

          • Went on the truck to German Autos they know all about this problem and will have it welded for me today.
A work colleague spotted me on the side of the road and gave me a lift once the car was on the truck.
Just need a taxi to pickup later today.

              • I ordered this kit SET Canbus LED Interior Light Blubs KIT FOR MK4 VW Golf Jetta GTI 1999 2005 OZ | eBay
they sent 2 wrong bulbs (a wedge for the glove box not a festoon, and a 1 size too big festoon for the back roof lights instead of 2 of the same)
they have said they will send new bulbs so that is a bonus.
all are bright white, I am thinking of spraying the inside of the reflectors silver to make them a bit more bright as they are a little dull due to the lack of spread of LEDs

Also I didn't notice it was warm white. I guess I was just looking at the pictures.

Let me know how you go with yours.

                Don't order this kit.

I also fitted my K03s successfully, now just running it to make sure everything is OK and we can then run stage 2 Custom Code yay
The new turbo gives a louder whistle when spooling which is cool, and the pickup is much quicker and stronger which is good

                  • it took 2.5 days but if you had a hand from a mate and got stuck in and didnt piss fart around, probably easily 1 day-1.5 days to be safe.

yeah I got it from Gav and the tune will be from Gav

                    • Somehow managed this....i don't think my car is responding well to being turbo'ed, keeps breaking stupid crap.

Kinda glad i managed to get it out with a screwdriver though otherwise it was looking like taking the head off, another month down.

                      • Installed a new knob (No polishing necessary), new mats, cabin filter and sanitised the aircon.

The old one was dirty !

Tried to fix wiper shudder. All I did was cause the spring to pop out.
Anyone got any ideas how to re-install it. Its a biartch, way too strong to stretch or lever !

Good to hear Anthony! Let's hope it's a straightforward fix and you're back on the road soon. On the positive side, you've got a bit of time for the cosmetic stuff now

                            • hate when this **** happens. sometimes you can put it down to maybe being a defect plug from factory or it can just be the slightest bit of angle on the socket whilst tightening or loosening. worse part is you'll never really know what the cause was.

                              • spent the weekend neatening up my trims. they were pealing so badly it was disgusting. gave the bottom ones a sand and coat of paint (not a fantastic job as im in the market for a new one) and had some spare carbon wrap which i used for the stereo and air-con panel.
The crack in the shifter surround irritates me cant find one for sale anywhere.
also got around to getting all my golf, generation and 2.0 badges off and blacking out the VW ones. such a small change but makes a huge difference. i love it.

anyway im new to the whole euro scene. the poor little golf looks so out of place in my garage. i absolutely love it though. waiting for my coils to come then i will probably be getting some XXR's off Next Level motoring. i see a lot of people going for such big sizes like 17's and 18's, i find myself looking in the 15x9 range. Is this just the previous years of being in the japanese scene trying to come out in me, or do other people agree that they look so much better on smaller wheels.
