  • Yesterday, I noticed my speedo was 'out', say about 1/8th slower (12.5%), after getting my engine swap to the 1.8T GTI engine... What can I do?

I thought it was really bad fuel economy, but the km's per tank would be down too I guess. I downloaded a GPS speed app on the iPhone, and it said I was doing ~45km/h, and it said 40km/h on my speedo. This went up according to my speed, so before I got the app to check, judging from the constant speed of the other cars, I think I was doing about 110km/h when my speedo said just over 90km/h.

Nothing else has changed on the car except for the engine/gearbox/ecu etc. The wheels and tyres are still the same since Dec '11, and the speedo seemed fine until engine swap.

          1. Yeah, I just asked Stan on his post about if/how he fixed it.. I'll PM him too..

          2. My tyres are Kumho, 225 x 40 x 18. Pretty sure. I think I'm running about 36 psi.

hit a HUGE pothole, well actualy a complex of potholes the width of the street and must have kicked a rock up under the car and holed the sump
            AGAIN!!!
getting replaced and getting bash plate installed this time.
$600+ that was earmarked for new coilovers to raise the car up a bit as it is just a bit low IMHO.
            2001 Bora 4Motion A work in Progress
Next up, Big Brake Kit from ECS, Cold Air Intake, Coilovers.

Which bash plate? I've noticed a few steel ones from ECS, is that what everyone uses? Mine doesn't have one & I'm now concerned..
