How would I control it? Any thoughts from the pros on that part? Jimmy? Gavin?
i don't think that works on aust gtis, i tried once but it didn't work in my car, the tune was always on.

Hi Gavin, I don't know the part numbers for my car specifically, but I did a search on eBay.co.uk. From memory it was about £39 and £149 - does that sound about right?

      Cheers, Lachlan.

You need DBW for the extra APR features to work. AGU GTI are cable throttle.
You may be able to add cruise control with a new stalk and wiring if the ECU supports it.

          • Awesome work kenbot - 1.8t will be exciting coming from the 1.6 - hope it all goes smoothly. Did you get some bigger front brakes though (I believe the 1.6 has 256mm fronts where as the gti has 288mm)? More power needs more stopping power.

            • Yeah AT, getting everything I need from a completely driveable car. I gave it a quick lap yesterday before handing over the coin. Write up, pics, and massive props given to all those involved when it's all done. Sitting on the bus writing this now, can't wait!

What I meant was that the ECU would run Cruise Control, where the 018AQ ECU doesn't. Not that you could switch the power on and off.

If the stalk and wiring are there or get fitted, you should gain the feature.

Sorry Geezer my crystal ball needs chipping to work from this distance Did the half cut have the clocks and column, was there a cruise control stalk on it? The best thing is to do a physical check of the ECU and read the label.

There's probably 5 ECUs for the AGU motor. The most common I have seen are AQ in A3s no Cruise and CH in Golfs with Cruise. Also had a 018BB as well.

Hahahha, sorry mate. The way you were talking, it seemed like you knew which one I had, and the one chip/remap was on. I didn't realise there were several possibilities. All's I know of the donor car in that area is that it's an '01-'02 MK4 Golf GTI, with an AGU engine, Wolfsberg Germany Built.

So, mainly, the ECU that lito has (...018 CH), should support the cruise control? Seeing as I can only hook it up for turning the chip/remap on/off (no drive by wire on AGU?), is it possible for me to just wire in a simple switch instead?? I don't really want to have to pay the donor car's owner extra, and go to the trouble of fitting and wiring it, just for a stalk that does nothing except be a simple switch.

I could consider paying him for the CCM (comfort control module) and key setup though, just so I get the proper 'flip' keys and remote . Also, maybe the stalks & dials with the CCM, so then I could have the 'proper' trip computer diplays/functions? Or is that way too much money/problems?

                            Big thanks All!

                            • Cruise switch is built into the indicator stalk. The same part is on heaps of VAG models.
Wreckers will have one, ebay etc.

Here is one in Brisbane $45

Thanks JC! Yeah, I'm more worried about the wiring being in place, which I seriously doubt it is even in the car.
