I'm working on trying to drop my consumption. But I only drive 12k's each way daily. Have started leaving the A/C off which makes a difference.Originally posted by JustCruisn View PostYep hwy 100km a day.

I also have a very short drive generally, and it's through some relatively hilly terrain, which sucks for consumption.
I've ordered Gruvenparts rear arms for my car, hoping ECS will be shipping them this week.
Still looking for a set of 8L S3 rims...Nothing to see here...

Short drives mean the engine probably does not get to full temp for long, meaning more fuel is used.
On saturday I hit a serious strip of potholes, then I heard a strange noise. I thought flat tyre but no. It got louder yesterday, and today it is very well pronounced. I've got vibrations when backing off throttle, weird jerking when accelerating and creaking when going over driveways.
So I guess the inner CV or tri-star has had it. Also noted LCA bush is flogged.
Booked in for 2 weeks time, lets hope it holds till then.MK4 GTI - Sold
MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

How bad were the potholes? Buckled rim? Dead control arm or wishbone bushes? Just really out of alignment maybe?

Let me know if you need parts, I can possibly help with the cost.Originally posted by JustCruisn View PostTOWTRUCK
I reckon something gearbox related.
Massive clunk today coasting in 5th at 60km.
Speedo has lost the plot. Gonna cost a shed load.
Maybe I should go run a red light...

Hopefully just a cv joint and nothing internal.

Mechanic called this morning. He is way too busy to work on it at the moment. But he drained the gearbox oil (which I only replaced a few months back) and found a rivet.
So the rivets have sheared but luckily did not force a hole in the housing. Will probably need a new final gear and maybe some bearings. More will be known when the box is pulled next week.
I'm not sure if I could be bothered looking for someone else to work on it earlier or not.MK4 GTI - Sold

Meh, if you find somebody else, you'll need to get a towie and then you'll still need to pay the current dude for what he's done.... I'd wait (but I'm lazy.)

WTF ??? This 'rivets' problem still exists in the GTI/1.8T gearboxes?? I thought I was safe now?!?!?Originally posted by JustCruisn View PostMechanic called this morning.
