Penrite says ATF FS Multi is the preferred fluid. What did you get?
edit; lol, my price checker is indicating a 0.2% price drop on the Penrite ATF, good to see that my tool is working.
ECS Allows me to enter in 1994 but still lists part no. Beginning with 01M.
Both kits look same same but ECS is more expensive.
Will call vw again... to confirm I order the right stuff but if anyone on here can confirm, I'd be grateful.
Appreciate any help I can get, so I can service the Trans and move on.
Thanks,Last edited by Speed; 21-02-2016, 11:11 PM.Mk IV Golf GTI - BMP - GIAC chip, R32 wheels, KW coilovers, rear swaybar.

Have no idea what it should look like as I've not removed from the car. Wanted to get the parts before I strip it down.

I will double check with my Haynes manual when I get home but I think that 01M was an evolution of the 096 auto transmission, so it would not surprise me if many parts are shared.
Just found this passage on wikipedia but would need to be double checked with a more technical source:

Some of the 096 parts were held over for the 01M transmission, such as oil filter, oil pan, filler tube, gaskets, speedometer gears, skid plate, etc. These transmissions have different torque converters and many other internal parts that are not interchangeable.1997 Golf CL, 2011 Caddy Life TDI, 2007 Golf TDI, 1996 Vento GL (red), 2008 Skoda Octavia TDI

Thought for the day - I see the 2.0 8v Neuspeed supercharger kits pop up for sale occasionally on Burnallthemk3s, would it be safe to say these would not work in a RHD car? Just purely judging by the S/C pulley sitting where the booster would be? Just seem fairly cheap for what they are, and would probably make a decently quick car with the right tune in a light bodied-car.

Early days but stats show changing the ATF and filter has improved mileage (km-atage?) by ~1L/100km. Will have a better understanding once I have a tank of travelling to uni and back added in, so not getting my hopes up too high yet.
Also, does anyone know if the electric window regs are the same if only the last 2-3 digits plus the letter are different. They visually look the same but I'm taking my motor from my broken reg and putting it into the new reg, so would like to know before I go buying.Past - '95 VW Golf MK3 VR6
