  • Then I bolted down the amps nice and securely. Made sure there was room to get the wiring in and still be able to adjust the controls if need be later on.

Then put it all back in, wired the amps back up again and tryed to tuck away some of the wiring, still messy though I know!

Put the top on, its not bolted down yet, not until I carpet it and cut out the trap door.

Then put the sub back in its place, forgetting I had to cut a recess out of the floor to get it to sit in properly. I rushed it too much and made some wrong measurements, resulting in a slightly too large a hole around the sub box. Ill fit it up later with some more wood so its neater

Thats as much as I got done for now. All works well, amps dont seem to overheat and I can use my whole boot again, yay

Now to find the right trim to do it all in.

Time for the next little project, retrimming parts of the doors in black suede I bought on Friday

    • Well I had another day off work so started on some of the retrim.

Having never done or tryed this before, it was something new to learn/teach myself to do. Ill have a go at anything pretty much, might aswell and better than paying someone else to do it for you!

Bought my fabric the other day, then bought some suitable glue and a brush aswell. Alex sent me some lower door speaker trims the other week so I had them to play around with.

      Heres what I did today:

Halfway through trimming it. Compared to an untrimmed one. Pics dont do the awsomeness of the fabric justice, its a black microfibre suade fabric

      One down, 3 to go!!

      • Nice work James looks good. I was considering redoing mine but didn't wanna risk ****ing up $$$ of leather, could try some vinyl first I guess.

          • Nice work james, agree with golf houso, do the rest of the car with matching material. GOOD work!

Hope you find inspiration from this.

They are next on the list mate. Once Ive done the door trims (im doing the centre inserts aswell) and the glove box and lower trim under the steering wheel, Ill do the headliner and parcel shelf. Only bought 1mx1m of the fabric (12$) which is enough to the do the 4 lower door trims for now.

First one took me 2.5 hrs to do in the end, second one I've done in less than 30mins!!

              • I have heard to get a nice round shape for retriming use spray on glue/ hot glue gun. Once half dry, use heat gun to melt the glue again than press down it should should conform to the shape nicely.

                    • DIY FTW!

good to see some ghetto mods in the works. Should be pretty neat once it's all done.

Retrimming really is pretty easy isn't it? (once you get the hang of it! )

Yeah not too hard after the first few goes at it, you pick up a few tips and tricks and easy ways of doing things.

Bboy, Ill have to look at your DIY when I do my headliner. Will look soo much better than the current cream colour.

                        • Please be sure its flame retarded material, just image if something breaks or someone who's driving your drops their but and sets the whole car ablaze

I know I'm harping on about this but its a really significant safety issue.

                            • I've found a few ciggy burns on my golf's rear seats... the flame quite clearly didn't spread. I'm pretty sure every car from the last 50 odd years has had at the least partially fire proof interior, think about how people smoked in the old days...

                              • You got to be kidding me, fire proof interior? Its got more to do about how the ember of a cigarette butt is not strong enough to ignite most things let alone fabric. A cigarette butt will not ignite petrol fumes even tho its temperature is above the ignition point of petrol!
