headed over to Silver dubs place on saturday for some arch rolling.
first issue was the removing the factory sealant/deadener in the rear arches and finding the right tool to get in there.
Once that was sorted we found a issue with the arch roller that it would only take 12mm bolts... some modifications were made and it was mounted.
heat was added and arches were rolled basically flat in no time. no cracked paint either!
thought id throw the audi wheels on, only to find they rubbed on the rear bumper under load and turning.
some quick adjustments were made and the rubbing was reduced to hard cornering, big bumps, and hard acceleration.

next wheels should be 5mm less aggressive in the back so should be enough to clear.

fronts are up next and to space the audi wheels out 5mm more, will end up with
16x7.5et25 205/45
16x7.5et20 205/45

also tried to fit the ABT side skirts but its like the skirts are 5mm too short. need to do some shaving of the body deadening/sealant infront of the rear wheels. looks like whoever was working at VW that day was happy to go a little over the top with the amount applied.

so new V5 starter arrived thanks to Lucky13.
mine worked when it wanted and was getting a bit annoying as there is limited places to park on slopes.
when comparing the two the wheel on mine was much stiffer. I assumed it was jammed up as when I turned the key it could be heard trying to turn but wouldnt always happen.
slapped that in tonight and happy days, started first turn of the key twice in a row.

I had used genuine wiring and plugs for the fog lights however I thought I got an electrical burning smell last time I used them and one wasnt working all the time. so decided to pull them for the moment and swap in my air ducts.



Tried to fit up my NA Jetta lip I scored from Jarred, however seems the US lip lug locations is more like a golf than a vento so quick threw the VR one I have already hacked up back on.



think I found one of the rattles in the front end.
was a extra hose clamp on one of the radiator hoses, I do recall loosing one a while back.

Yeah similar noise but I just did a second set of shocks, all new bushes, bearings and hardware so thinking it's not that.
Sound seems to be come from the bottom of the strut or beam rather than the top

That's just for the year coming... have been hoarding cool wheels for this thing since I got it 5 years ago

Maybe... exhaust does seem pretty secure though. Not heaps of movement in rubber hangers from what I can tell.
Good excuse to get a new one on there I guess

started to give the paint some love today.
two washes followed by a clay bar.
there was 7 plus years of known build up (maybe even more before the Melbourne crew knew of the car)
used a lower quality clay to start with, took 3 rounds of clay and 3 more rounds of washing to get the roof even bearable.

did the rest of the car and threw some wax and plastics gel on for now. so much nicer!!
ill strip the wax, claybar again, polish and seal when I get a chance in a few weeks time.

Looks good, I need to find some time to do the same to my Vento. Father-in-law cleaned the Golf CL and it looks a lot better without the bits of flaking clearcoat.
