Cheers.
yeah just a hub/spindle we think as there was no issue before I swapped them.
Last night I chased the wiring and found a sensor for the exterior temperature. got it all working but it Fahrenheit so pretty pointless on the run ha
So found the front passenger tyre was JUST touching the spring base with all the added camber.
Most of the 3 piece wheels are still being built and the steelies were going to cause the exact same issue as they are the same width, offset and tyre width.
threw these Audi wheels on.
had a few issues with the rears needing a big adaptor then planned to clear the hub, and then the tyres not clearing the stock arches (need rolling) so was short lived and I've throw the BBS stockies back on the rear temperately so it can drive.
Gave it a quick wash this arvo, itching to do a full detail on but I think its going to be more then a weekend job... going to require a few full days I fear
My new headlight switch arrive. However turns out the globe had blown.
pulled both switches apart and swapped globes over. bingo.
now to wire up the front end of the car for fogs.
Got my smoked fogs and single smoked infill fitted. along with my home made lighting loom. bit of trouble at the start caused by a dead relay, then a dead globe and then found a break or two in the old wiring
the vento had amber all round.
think the golf I wrecked had clears front and genuine 'smoked' side indicators.
was a while ago. early photos might tell a better story
My Vento has smoked rear indicators and side indicators. The front bumper ones are the only ones that are amber with clear inserts. I am aiming to get smoked or clear front indicators.
some of the late ventos in AUS came with smoked rears as standard, not sure if the side indicators were smoked though.
should be able to pick up some clear fronts pretty easy. decent brand smoked fronts are a bit harder to come by
Just took the vento for some test runs with Water Boy to try and diagnose a few rattles.
Seems there is a nice rattle coming from the rear under body guard (cant really hear this in this car though, but there is still a decent knock coming from the rear suspension or beam somewhere.
seem to be able to replicate it by driving over cats eyes (reflectors), also by applying the hand brake and trying to launch the car (making the rear suspension work as the car squats on the suspension...
possible rear beam bushes? are they as horrible to do as the mk4 ones?
Hopefully get the car in the air and have a better look and poke around
The suspension knock you are describing sounds like it could be worn bushings.
Not 100% sure how hard they are to replace as I have never done it myself but I have read that changing the rear shocks on the Mk3 is a pretty simple driveway task for the DIY mechanic.
Yeah similar noise but I just did a second set of shocks, all new bushes, bearings and hardware so thinking it's not that.
Sound seems to be come from the bottom of the strut or beam rather than the top
while I dont need a radio hooning around melbourne, its going to be pretty boring at highway speeds for extended periods of time
Have a factory HU delete in the car already, and picked up a taxi console a while back, so going to get the stock radio in and working.
required a fair bit of cutting to get it this far, needs a bit more work to get it centred.
Now to work out how to extend the loom, id ideally like something plug and play, anyone seen such a thing for a mk3 radio/wiring?
