I was in the Ming blue Audi A3T, was in front of you for a bit. I was mighty impressed bro. looks tuff! love the Vento front end too. It had me confused til i read this, your headlights in my rear view mirror did but didn't look mk3, and i was confused... but of course Vento!

    Respect
oh, ok awsome! you should have caught my attention thanks for the props and should see you round perhaps

Slight scrubbing every now and then, but the Golf Gti's couldn't even keep up with it. Brembo's are amazing, stopped the car like nothing else, and there wasn't any bodyroll at all.

A couple of rattles to fix maybe hey alex but otherwise I thought it went really well. What sort of speeds were we going round those really wide bends on the way to mt tamborine? I couldn't see the speedo..

But yea, thanks for giving me a ride, it was the most fun I've had in a long time, very inspirational for when I finally get my car
lol, nice write up there Timbo! haha, i didnt know you were there to give my ride a review haha, thanks though, was a blast sorry about the bumpy roads and noisy engine oh and not sure on the speeds? faster than the mk5's anyways

    • i've been really motivated lately (for some reason) to get my lazy ass into gear and get stuck into my vee-arghhh so it's been keeping me busy busy.

My lil grind, sand and paint project on the inside is slowly getting there, am probably half way through sanding and can i say WHAT A JOB ITS TURNED OUT TO BE! its a far bigger task than i first thought but i'm hopeing it'll be worth it no pics cuz there aint much to look at . . . yet . . .

I've installed my Mocal 16row 230x150x50mm oil cooler with the sandwich plate, braided lines and speedflow fittings. Quite easy and am looking foward to the results!

Next was the Crack pipe just for a bit of preventative maintenance; I found it easier to pull the front away from the car to give me more working space, not many pics of it installed here as i was kinda greasy and i didnt wanna touch the camera

Since i was doing the crack pipe i thought i'd change up the thermostat.
      New and old . . .

      continued . . .

      • The 42Drapht Designs Y adapter to allow us suckers with the 6 to run an oil pressure gauge.

So once it was all together i topped up the coolant and oil and drove it to work, just . . . just round the corner from work the engine started coughing intermittently, it came and went a few times then it died as i pulled into the car park! god damb people . . . after work it started and drove normally?! then 20mins later it started up again and died in the city on a main road! lucky it was 4am so there wasnt much traffic, i left it there, cabbed to my girls and had it towed to mine later that morning . . . .

I thiiiiiiiink it'd be my coil pack that's given up on me so now i want to go with the MSD ignition set-up just because i'm cool and also because the set-up will be the same price as a new oem replacement, has to be better even if its marginal and it looks pretty. Now i've decided whilst i wait on the parts to arrive for that, i'll pull the intake off and paint it.

Then once i had that off, i was like, i'm going to replace the valve cover gasket because it's been leaking for a while now!

Then, i'm going to peak down there and have a looksie at the top chain guide to see how worn it is . . . . the chain is a flies wang away from riding and grinding on the rivets! lucky

So now i'm thinking, since i have to pull the chains off, i'll pull the head out and have it reconditioned, ported and big valved! Woo! i'll also replace the head gasket with the mk4 vr6 metal head gasket for strength and to raise the compression a little . . . . . . . .

So what started out as an easy coil pack replacement has turned out to be a friken make over! And NO i'm not touching the bottom end

        I'll keep you all as informed as i can be bothered too lol . . . . I was warned about the "Well since i'm here" virus . . . . . . .

As for the Nats . . . i'm unsure, just need to see how long it takes for parts to arrive, how long it takes for the head to be reconditioned and how much time i'll have to work on it! If I dont make the Nats i'll make the DOVW hopefully, big drive but should be a bit of fun

so spent today cleaning out my garage and tidying up my work banch again to create some workable work space for the mission ahead of me . . .

and pulled the coil pack apart to get to the ICM ready and waiting for the msd coils to arrive . . .

                              • nice work there alex!! much respect for diving in there.. i would personally only do the chains and cover gasket myself. money $$ wise its cheaper, head port and polish costs $1000 roughly
