Nice work, what did it end up costing if you don't mind me asking?

For me, I will get more use out of the flip key (I sit and flip it all the time ) than I will from the window function. My kit will do window up, but with one window wired in backwards (up is down/down is up) I haven't left it hooked up.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Sorry for my tardy reply...Had stopped checking this page...but have now enabled email notification.

It wasn't cheap - it was 113 GBP... but I have since been looking into things a little.

The control module with the VAG kit I have says on it "Cobra AT- Type 1046". If you then put Cobra AT 1046 into google you then get the Cobra site and a strikingly similarlooking kit with identical remotes. The only difference is I can't see if the antenna connectionis the same. On ebay inthe UK - this kit is available for 50 GBP and I suspect I could have bought the same thing for atleast half the price... the only thing is however that you won't have the purpose built wire loom that came with it, but I suspect it would be easy to duplicate.

        Hope this helps.

I think thats the real benifit in your kit, it's plug and play-ability

Having now looked at other piccys of the Cobra control unit on the internet I am certain they're identical to the VAG device... Thanks for all the help.

Where did you buy your VAG kit from? The sites that I found that stocked the kit had "Votex" inscriptions on them - http://www.vagparts.com/pages/MK3Golf.htm
Does your one look like that?

Also, I asked our local VW dealers for the same kit (part number 1H0 054 640B) and they quoted me something along the lines of $300+ AUD.

FYI: 113.00 GBP = 274.393 AUD so add dealer tax and living in Australia tax and it sounds about right.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Did Steve say the GBP 50 device was the same as the GBP 113 one?

                        Hi all,

Yes Rayray I bought the item from VAG and yup it looks identical to the one on the website you mention.

MrK_Mickey - as far as I can work out the item I have is available for less than half the price but you don't get the wiring loom. I have also found piccy on a french website showing the "Cobra 1046" being fitted to a golf and it has the same connections and antenna connection and looks identical to the VAG part - except some of the wording on the outer case is different.

I have a question for VW-VR6 - how did you connect the indicator leads - PLEASE let me know.

                        Steven

Just plug two wires, one to the left and one to the right indicators from controle module. All parts comming with remote controler unit. You can plug to indicators, parking lights or brake lights - up to you. If you need diagram or any more information welcome. I can scan small diagram and all pictures for you and other guys.

                            Hi VW-VR6

Yes please, a diagram would help...

The instructions that came with mine show connections 8 and 12 in the plug going off to the blinkers but don't explain what you connect it to. The kit also comes with two wires that fit into positions 8 and 12 but don't explain what you do with the other ends.

Do you simply wrap the ends it around the existing indicator connections in the rear light cluster?? If so I presume it goes to the +ve terminal of the bulbs... in which case how does it activate the indicators at the front ... or are they all connected???

Dummy proof instructions would be great.

you can find 3 pins empty socket between parts 5 and 6 (red arrow point) and connect at the middle pin at left and right side.
