I beg to differ.....4 branch ansa (or what ever the name is...TSR used to sell them) gave massive torque and top end BHP gains. We saw 20 bhp gain on my mates mk1 convertible.

Can you still get them though??
Plus shipping something that big to Australia can be an issue.

There are lots of comparison tests on the net from when VW Motorsport tried different exhausts on racing the 16v engine.

      • FWIW: I was searching last week and found mk1 16v manifold for 250 squids without shipping. I decided leave it for now.

These carbs look even more horn in real life!

Yes you can mate. 250 squids sounds about correct (plus shipping)

As per everything in Oz its expensive but you need to pay to play

              • actually, the best stock flowing exhaust manifold was apparently flow tested by some guy on vortex, and it was the golf mk4 2.0 counterflow manifold.

the outlet is in a slightly different position but it's tubular. except they're also not exactly a dime/dozen. i'd also need a new downpipe, and whole exhaust back.

I'm actually thinking i'll go down to Camden Exhausts and get one built downpipe/manifold back. With lots of small silencers so it's quiet but flows.

now i need some rear spacers/phat wheels and coilovers. *giggle*

                    great..

but last night i did have a license and !@#$^#%$*!@#^$%^!@#$%!!

accidentally spun all of second gear.... all i need now is a remapped ecu.

oh. yeah. no more dellortos. it runs a modified ibiza gti loom.

cant wait for an 8500 rpm rev limit.

                          • We tried Kjet - too erattic
                            dellortoes - too loud
and finally rewired the whole car for efi with an ibiza 2L loom and tank.
Now it is a weapon and starts on the button.
Apparently the clever yanks can reflash the standard ecu for peanuts and give him a redline at 8500 and more fuel. Then look out.
We also did a crazy mission rekeying all the locks to work off a single key
Jay is supposed to do a home respray whilst the driver is off the road. The gauntlet is thrown down bro, keep us posted with it.
