It won't. Sure you can make your engine produce more than A STANDARD 16v, but when push comes to shove, on a completely performance level in modified form (Atmo VS Atmo or FI VS FI).. You'll lose.

But that's not really the point, is it?

                    Im a little confused here

Your doing cam timing . Shouldnt the cam timing have been sorted when the engine was built ?

You have a timing light . I assume your adjusting the igntition timing ?
If it is getting tuned what are the a/f readings like ?

                      • set it at zero till everything else is sorted (timing A/F etc) then fiddle with the cam once you hit the track/strip.

                        • Because the head is decked so much, the cam timing is a little out of sync with the bottom end.

Adjustable cam gear will sort the problem, but last week we were trying to tune it in a shed with a tin roof in a ridiculous rainstorm.

At the moment is is 2degrees retarded on the cam, which has moved the powerband and made the pinging better. Next I reckon try 4degrees and hang on

The builder of the engine is in Sydders next week and will doubtless make the thing sing

Its already pretty fruity for an 8v and the lumpy idle is awesome.

                          • hahaha. fruity would be one way.. up until the point of motor longevity, it's a bit intense...

i'd take some photos, but we all know what this car looks like it's also covered in that red mess out of bathurst.
