Yeah thats about right, he was talking hp at the motor to me. Damn Yanks.

Cam depends on valve size and lifter type.

Dude, how do you expect to drive that thing on the street with a cam like that?!

I don't mean the rain down on your parade, but I'm very sceptical about those figures.

Especially on stock K-Jet gear, hydraulic head?.

You'd need the biggest valves you can fit, along with one of the highest flowing matching head, & intake system's going around. Also need some Volvo, Porsche, Audi K-Jet gear too.

With that compression it's into the C14 fuel. IMO, that's alittle too much for avgas.

But I hope you do make it.

i am not understanding this thread?!

what the hell are you building? i am guessing an 8v something?

and if the car is k-jet, why arent you going 16v?

I think its near impossible without a budget of at least $10k . Your gonna need triple valve springs , Titanium valves , extremely light rods that are strong preferably titanium , billet crank etc etc . With a Cam like that you'll idle at 1500rpm , make peak power around 8500-9000 rpm and rev to 11k .
Reliability ? <laughs> , maybe a few hours at best . You cant build a drag motor for the street and expect it to survive ! I wont even go down the cooling , gearbox , clutch path !

Stick with 260-276 type cam ! Just remember the bigger you go , the less driveable it becomes and the faster you wear everything out !

160-170 should have the k-jet stretched to its outer limits....
you would have to go EFI to be reliable i recon.
It would take a lot of modification to get the fuel into it.
                Cheers, Benny

hahaha. dont worry guys. i'm just as skeptical, i mean i'm excited, but realistic. i really hope i prove you/us skeptics wrong, not so i can say "told you so", but so i can have a ridiculously fast mk2!!

i cant wait till this motor gets built though. also, i should just get some stock beeze struts for the front, and i can roll around continously grinding my sump.

btw, does anyone have any ultramegacheap 15 inch wheels that are 5x100 that they want to sell me? like $50 sorta thing.

i'll also get to work on that body at some stage. it's looking poor at best.

Try the guy on eBay selling the $50 steelies. He won't do shipping but organise a courier to pick it up from his place. I remember in another thread, some bloke managed to ship a set of wheels interstate for $44 with smartsend.com. With smartsend, the receiver can organise everything and all they gotta do is sit in front of their computer
                        Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                        Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

No the seller has to box them up. I'll be impressed if this 8V monster makes 140hp at the wheels tbh.

Probably the best thing to do. Guys, leave it until the motor is ready to be bragged about.
