Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Gavin (H100VW) rebuilds G Laders, or you can post to G-Werks for $200, then 80 pounds back to Australia. Best thing to do is get it serviced before you ship it out here, they last a while on a decent re-build.
All depends how much you want something and how much you're willing to pay for it, i don't regret having mine sent out here one little bit

Have a look at www.karmanshipping.co.uk for more info on shipping, tax etc, theres plenty of links in there.

        Really?

        Headlights?
        Steering Rack
        Pedals, Brake Linkages
Dash and lots of other stuff?

Plus untold time to do it and it would never be as good as a factory one.

You can have a car of interest registered for limited road use in LHD
Road Rally or something like that.

Not a problem mate, i can recommend that company too btw, my Corrado came in a sole use 20ft container from them, the cool thing is it only took 4 weeks and i was allowed to fill the car up with personal effects. It cost me 1500 pounds in 2005.
With Roll on Roll off ferry service you are not allowed to fill the car up, it was cheaper at 800 pounds though.

Selling a car with ltd road use should you need/want to would be very tough for starters. Example look at that guy that had a cage in his R32 that was on a normal rego...didn't sell did it.

I got a quote from Karman today and it looks like it would cost around $10000 all up including the cost of the car.

And like you say you can fill it up with whatever. I wonder how many sets of wheels i could get in a car?

two of the quotes i had from the UK will NOT allow you to fill the car up with spares etc

but that was for a roll on / roll off

It can be done you just need to have a very good itinery of what is inside.

Roll on roll off is a very expensive method of freight.

Basic 20 or 40ft container is your cheapest option.

Do you mind letting me how much he will charge. I am definitely interested in shipping a car over, if you wanna share a container and split the cost.

Won't be able to do it 'till early next year though.
