          • Looks awesome. You need to bring it to some shows and stop Tim getting more People's Choice awards with his blue 4 door.

                  • UPDATE! Well she's getting along just fine. Healthy motor (so far), getting a lot of positive attention from people
Apart from the occasional belt squeal and reverse not wanting to stay in gear, everything has been awesome.

One question... what the heck have you guys done about door seals?? Clark rubber doesn't have anything that could work and not too keen on spending a small fortune

                      • Back in the old days (yeah, I know, I'm an old man so all my stories start like that).

I'm a cheapskate so I used to buy strips of foam rubber - about 2cm x 1cm wide/thick x a few metres long and stick it around each door. It was added as a second seal to keep out noise/dirt/rain/small children and not to replace the original rubbers.

Because it was on the doors it was harder to see than if I'd stuck it to the doorframe (bodywork) so didn't look too bodgy.

Yours is a 4 door so you've got another option. They made 4 door MK1's in South Africa up until a few years ago and the door rubbers are still available and (I'm told) not too expensive. Get on to Google and see what you can find.

Can you stop posting pictures of your car. Yesterday I was 100% committed to painting mine yellow - now I'm not so sure.

                        Cheers

                        Paul

I though about gettting a set from a wrecking mk1 but my old ones were glues in. Straight up impossible to pull out and reuse em. Had the impression all mk1s had glue in seals??

Funny you say that, i have mini regrets about not going yellow haha. Only thing that convinced me to go blue what it was cheaper and apparently yellow is a hard colour to spray (dont know how true that is, but thats what i was told)
