    Hey all!

So i woke up one morning really wanting my mk1 on the road, but it's no where near completion. So I figured I'd get a cheap run around weekender on club reg to satisfy me until the my white one is complete.

Had a look at a few mk1's and finally found this one. Had a strong look over it, minimal rust, only a tad in the rain tray area, footwell and all is clear! The paint is starting to peel it's clear, and the bloke had stripped the entire interior as he wanted to restore it and re trim it all (interior isn't great).

Anyway, car has been imported at some stage, and converted to rhd. It is a 1600 with what I think is a 4 speed, haven't had the chance to drive. Car fired up pretty fast. Dgav weber and a few other small goodies. Wiring looks faulty, and interior is shot. Plan is to just slap it all together, club reg, coilovers and my spare bbs. That's it! Any one know where I can get all the window seals for cabbies? Opening quarter window seals have crapped themselves.

    What it once looked like

What's left of it. And in my driveway as of today

    - Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold
    - Golf mk1 Swallowtail rebuild, completely stripped
    - Brown U.S import 81 cabby
    - 88 Honda crx b18cr

I saw that on ebay (I believe its still on there actually). Love that colour - should come up quite nicely. MK1 Autohaus should have the seals.

Yep bought it from the eBay seller actually, colour is really cool! Just some scratches here and there, but not really bugging me.

Found it by the looks of it, it has been fuel injected at the start of its life and then converted to carb. There is an old loom for an ecu, and the emissions sticker that Peter pointed out lastnight look like it had a kjet system.

Either way, roof is on and windows are on. Just have to work out the rest of the interior too. All electrics work surprisingly!

I'm rushing to get the car club reg, as I've heard by a few ppl from July 1 they will require rwc to pass in order for club reg, so I'm obviously trying to avoid paying more costs.

Ps the u.s bumpers, are suuuuuuper heavy hahahaha

Nice cab! Looks the same as the cab just picked up by one of our Adelaide members, which is also an ex-USDM Rabbit

        Love that colour!!!

Hahaha too cool man! Looks like it's much better condition than mine. Is it fuel injected?

And thanks Dyl, this will be sacked and stanced soon haha

That is a fantastic colour. I have a rabbit with a similar story, the paint is not nearly as nice.
The bumpers certainly are heavy, they would look at home on a landcruiser.

The one above was the one I held for about all of a month lol then moved for the rocco. Was a mint car who ended up getting it? I sent it to qld?

                    Pretty pissed off...

So I busted my balls over the lat week after work to get every single light working, heads, tails indicators, demister, heater, dash lights, reverse lights, standard suspension, etc etc all rwc condition. The lady from the club came and long story short declined my car. Without checking a single thing, in my own words she said my cars paint is crap. Asked me when I was re painting it due to the pealing clear on my bonnet and the few scratches. Told her straight up I am not reprinting it, and going to keep it as original as I can when it was imported. Really bugged me that the car was 100% working order and she declined it due to crappy paint. Anyway, avoid Westside Car and Motorcycle club.

I have spoken to a few other clubs and will be doing things in a few weeks to come. I said to hell with it and started modding it to my liking haha will update next week.

New battery, bay tidied up and wiring sorted etc

Does anyone know what this is? Trip computer? Mileage computer?

This is the state she declined me in.... I thought it looked neat. Anyway if anyone has a mk1 carpet... Pretty please sell to me!

                          Mileage counter.

EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculating. It would turn on the dash "check engine light" every 30,000 miles (50,000klms) on California models
advising the owner to relace the catalytic converter. This helped reduce exhaust emissions. It was fitted to carburettor and injected engines.

The 5th letter of the VIN may have the engine code the vehicle had when new.

It is fuel injected, it originally had a 1.6i engine, but the head had gone and I got a 1.8i put in it.
