Yep thats right with the serp setup - the water pump takes almost no torque to spin so it doesnt need a grooved pulley.

Yep I'll be there, and so will the car. Still unsure about whether the engine will be in in time though. Fingers crossed

Unfortunately the engine won't be in in time for VITS, which I'm bummed about. Although I'd rather make the ~700km round trip with an engine that is somewhat reliable and that won't be it's maiden voyage.

Still keen as a bean though

              More to come...

And so I've jinxed myself. My 'reliable' engine has started to be a little bitch, and will get really REALLY hot (I suspect a faulty thermostat). On top of that, my electrical are all slowly starting to die... Started with my radiator fan (since replaced) and now my lights are dimming whenever I brake or accelerate, and my radio cuts in and out. It seems I've somehow drained the majority of the battery.

Will need to work quick smart to get her to VITS, if she gets there, it will be a limp in afraid. I'm hoping she doesn't die on the way to or from work tomorrow, because that would ruin my weekend significantly.

                  Wish me luck

Check the earth leads from the lights. Make sure they have nice clean contacts on the body.

                    • sounds like your altinator is not charging enough. how much charge do you get out of it under full load? lights on, radio on, wipers on?

                      • Add more grounding bud, hopefully that will end the dimming?

Also I'll be heading up with a few dudes tomorrow after work around 5. Meeting at cooper st bp if you want the company!

                        • Thanks everyone for the advice. Bought a cheap thermostat from aurobarn which should last at least the 3 days I need it to.

The electronics are second on my list. I'll properly look into then when the new engine enters the scene... Along with the new 90A alternator.

In all honesty, I just want her to make it to albury. Anything beyond that is a bonus and a blessing

Awesome Jordan, also I'll be taking a few spares with me on the trip just in case. Like hoses and pumps belts ect.

                              • VITS was mint! Unfortunately I didn't take any pics at the show, but those who came know how sick it was anyway.

Some friends and I decided to make a weekend of it and camped the night at the local caravan park.

My little girl loaded to the brim!

Had a grand old time and am definitely doing it all again next year

Surprisingly, the car made it up and back without a hitch. It actually ran better than ever [emoji6]
