Well it's been a while since any updates coz uni has been chewing my ass lately. Anyway, had the day to myself yesterday and decided to tackle the exips that had been sitting for the last couple of months.

First I needed to get all that nasty corrosion off them, which took way too long with some 120. Everyone says that wheel polishing is a PITA, but honestly it wasn't that bad.

Finish after the 120 grit to get off all the corrosion

    180 grit

    240 grit

    360 grit

    600 grit

    800 grit

    1500 grit

The results weren't perfect but they were still far better than I was expecting to be able to get. Some before and afters.

    And my favourite pic...

Tyres next. Then to install along with all these goodies...

P.S. anyone needing odds and ends should hit jollys in dandenong. Found this little bad boy there.
Already got some drive shafts for a steal.

    Stay tuned, more to come

Yeah, paint needs some work as well as the engine and interior. But it wouldn't be as fun if everything was already done haha

So for a while now, my window seals and scrapers have been doing my head in, and being so expensive to replace the whole lot, I decided to go digging.

I read on another forum that mk3 window seals could be used, so I took some measurements and, low and behold, they were almost the same length and height.

Here is how I did it.

Pick some seals up from your local scrappy (they're impossible to get new).
Now let's make it fit in there...
                                You will need the following
First, cut the thing in half along the join in the rubber like so
and trim to fit the mk1 window scraper slot
Then place it in there and make sure it's tight
Now simply trim the remaining seal to fit the upper section. Do one end at a time to make extra sure it fits nice and snug
Put it in and put the windows up firmly. This will help the rubber change shape. Leave it for a while and should be good to go.
Cost me 12 bucks from the scrappy for the pair. Much nicer than these old things haha
                                Good luck.

Btw, I left my inner scrapers for the time being, to be replaced at a later stage
