part 2, tried the paint stripper, 3 coats and this is what it got me. Barely hit the base.

going to get them stripped tomorrow

light wire wheel on the drill got me quite far on the lips, light enough to be able to sand everything out but it also helps with the curb rash a fair bit.

I had fixed half the broken crap but that just meant it was still halfway inoperable

      • took the centres to the sandblasters today so will have them ready tomorrow is what he said. Working all day so going to get the trusty mum to pick them up for me. $100 for all 4 isnt too bad a deal i dont think.

going to take the car in for an exhaust build next week when i get paid, 2"system straight through like you guys said would be best.

car made its way into the canberra vw centre because it conked it and wouldnt start, not entirely mad though because it was meant to be in there on thursday anyway.

                    • going to pick up some mk4 seats that have been modified for a mk2 today, dont know how well the back will work but the fronts will go straight in.

                      • the seats werent converted for a mk2, turns out the car they were in was converted to use them since the mk4 rails are still there.

                        • getting a mirror finish doesnt exist, its official.

all the way through to 2k grit and its not even close to reflective. mght try a cutting compound through to polish and see if that helps.

                          • Polish will do wonders mate. Sandpaper won't give it shine, just a brushed finish.

                            • Yeah what browneye said. The 2k is just step one, then use a cutting compound and only then use polish
