Almost, im just waiting on engine mounts and the other parts i need to get running again. Other than that it's just the front end body work that is slowly getting done.

Does that mean you're big enough now to go on all the rides at the show?

          By yourself?

          Congrats.

            • hey guys, I need some help with figuring stuff out,

              1. the tacho doesn't work and I have no clue at why or how to fix it

              2. the car runs well ad then messes up when you tap the voltage regulator, as in charges at 16.4v instead of 14.7, it also runs really rough at the same time. is the voltage regulator messed up or what?

              • For the rev techno, there is a blue wire at the back of the cluster, to test if it works, you can directly place it on the ...... +? Side of the coil. I can't remember, but it's either side of the coil.

                • Voltage regulator sounds like it needs replacing. 14.7 is normal, 16v isn't and will do some damage to the electrical circuits.

                  Got the wheels on yet?

                            • Hope they now make head gaskets out of better material than they did 20 years ago. Back then I had a mate with a 1.6 bored to 1.8 which was always blowing head gaskets because of the reduced area between the cylinders. Bigger bores = less surface area pressing against the reinforced part of the gasket that seals in the bore/cylinder.

If you can get a 1.8 headgasket to suit I’d highly recommend it.

                              Cheers

                              • Hello!

Alas i am not dead and the golf is progressing be it so slowly..

i finally managed to get the wheels that i bought off paul (sports racer) onto the golf, once i can get it off my phone onto the computer..

i have run into some hurdles with the monstrosity, namely a faulty temperature gauge and a sheared speedo cable.. i've got the replacement for the speedo cable just needing to go in (tomorrow) but im wary about the temp sensor.. this is the second sensor i've had in the golf and its also bust, does getting it really hot mess with the way it performs? its the sensor from the radiator.
