      • Problems after problems keep arising with the deathtrap. Fuses 7 and 8 kept blowing so i wasnt able to drive since no indicators would work, then after i fixed that the golf wouldnt start. I have replaced the coil and points and that didnt fix anything so i read up on it and there is most likely a problem with the condensor? so if anyone knows where i can buy a new condensor for less than $55 (what autopro is charging for one) then hit me up please.

I also bought new suspension and installed it with a friend yesterday, let me just say that spring compressors would of made it a much safer job.

Theyre just cheap JOM Coilovers, but they feel alot more firm and dropped it 3 inches without even touching the factory settings of the coilovers. im young so i dont really mind the rough ride that its going to give haha

I think that covers all that ive done in the time that ive been off the site for.

          • making money for your golf is always good!

            so, update.

i went ghetto and created and a new condensor out of a $7 one from repco and spliced in the connection for the mk1. Looks dodgy! but it works so who am i to complain.

The new suspension is great! much better handling so thats great. the ride is bumpy but very bearable and its worth it tbh

                • Great news, rebuilding the golf again...

After driving the car for awhile and breaking everything atleast 4 times i thought it would be smart to pull it all out and fix everything perfectly and put it all back in, just to get it to the level of road worthiness that it needs to be safe for both me and other people on the road.

Will be a fun experience doing it with all the knowledge i learnt from doing it once and hope to have it finished by my birthday which is the 24th february, so exactly 2 months.

the only thing so far on the cards are an interior rehaul aswell as a respray, as im only going to be pulling out the engine to fix the collapsed left hand engine mount and to clean up every and all oil leaks/ fuel leaks/things the devil likes to tinker with considering how it;s already had a $3000 rebuild done to it.

                      is that a challenge paul?

Its weird how quickly the car comes apart when you know what you're doing, got the whole interior stripped within 30 minutes..

will have everything pulled apart by tomorrow before work and hopefully have the fenders sanded back aswell, should be easy with two of us..

im trying to find a colour to respray the golf, either burgundy red or Dodge viper striking red. just to give the golf some pop, also found some wheels that im going to try and snab, avid av.17, theyre mtechnica turbo replica's but they look pretty good and theyre cheap as chips aswell, the set im looking at is 600 for wheels and tires.

                      • OK, 25th Feb is the challenge date.

I'll see if I can get my MK1 done for that date too. You've got an advantage though, you've already got a MK1. I've still got to buy one.

$600 is a bit steep for the wheels, I got my 15's for $150 with tyres. Even the 17's cost me less than $400 and that's also with tyres. 2nd hand is the best way to go.

you'll get one that isnt running i assume?

The wheels are 2nd hand, i reckon i could get him down to $450ish for the set.

Sanded and put the first coat of primer on the fenders today, just gotta fix all the dents and will put the last coats on tomorrow, hopefully have colour by the end of next week on the whole car.

Going to attempt to retrim the dash again, in a faux suede style. i've heard thats its easier to manipulate than vinyl so we'll see..

pulling engine out tomorrow aswell, should have pix of everything up aswell

                          • 450 is good as for a nice set. My wheels cost 400 without tyres and I had to drive to Sydney to get them [emoji14]

The recovering of the dash sounds interesting man. Please post pics of the whole process as I, as well as others, would probably be interested in how its done.

                            Keep the great work coming!

the dash retrim wont happen for a few weeks while i work enough to pay for everything, but im hoping it'll be pretty straightforward with the way im going to try and do it.

i got a few pictures today but for some reason i cant upload them so i'll have to try again tomorrow

                              • so a little bit happened yesterday..

put the carpet back in, used self tap screws along the sides to keep it in place, covered by the door sill trim stuff.

i also painted the inner fender with body deadener, dont know how much this is going to do to help with vibration and noise inside the car but. advice on reducing noise is most wanted, already fully lined the floor/doors with sound deadener.

and, last but not least, i did something silly..

i polished the rocker cover for something to do.

                                Also,

Can someone please advise in what engine mounts i need, because my right hand mount is collapsed aswell as my gearbox/engine mount in the back.. there are 3 different sizes for the circular mounts and i dont know what one to get.

                                Cheers
