Cheers dude, It's all coming together slowly. Our garage at home is usually full and i have to work outside/remove car cover etc everyday.. Not totally ideal, Would be awesome to just have a spot for it so i don't have to spend the half hour just packing up stuff before it gets dark. But what can you do

Ughh anyone have a clue how i could replace the mk1 hazard switch with a generic one to fit my dash..?
I can get a 2 pol rocker switch to work fine, but when trying to use indicators they act as hazards also but when i put the factory hazard switch to the same 3 wires it seems to work normal?

      So confused !

Other than that i have the headlights wired up to a new switch, highbeams and cluster lights working. Getting pretty over wiring already >:| At least all the dash stuff will be finished soon. As for my speedo problem, i talked with the guys who made my cable up and they said the only real fix is to fit a ratio box for around $140. I will probably get this done once its on the road and i can do the ratio/km test.

All dash wiring is complete, can be all fitted up now but priorities are set on the InterPro rust. Pulled off the guards and the holes were a little bigger than i thought..

Here is a picture the pile of crap that fell out when the drivers guard came off haha

Anyone know someone South Brisbane mobile rust quotes as i don't really want to take the car to a shop just for a quote. The inner wheel well (Inside the cabin) on both sides need replacing. Would do myself but i dont know how to go about getting the whole curved thing happening hah

For the hazard switch get a on/off rocker that has 2 separate circuits and wire one for each side of the car. That way you aren't joining the left and right side together in a single circuit that will let the normal indicator switch feed back into the rocker switch to turn on both sides of the car at the same time.

6Pm time to pack up and put the old girl outside again

Started getting as much done to the engine bay as i could with it still in the car. Welded up multiple holes, removed unnecessary bits. Used heaps of degreaser and brushes, makes a whole world of difference. Also sorted out heaps of wiring, going to run it through the passenger guard More pictures to come!

Placed an order with Eurowagens also

Good fun the last couple days, spent them learning to weld. Thought id have a crack at repairing and doing the rust work, tell me what you guys think. Pictures are pretty crap but i think im doing doing alright

The area with the bog had a fairly long hole behind the tower, i forgot to take picture of the before..

Welds are getting a little nicer! Made these hooks to hold the wiring that will be going through the guard. Using the grommets from the engine bay firewall.

Who else has removed there raintray? Im confused as to where i should mount the ignition coil. I was thinking on the firewall near where it use to be but water will be a problem unless i make another raintray. :/

I haven't removed mine yet, but I do plan on doing it soon. Looks so much better with no rain tray.

Good work so far. Bay looks much neater. Nice brackets for the wires, could swear I've seen them somewhere before haha. Also with where the rust is, it's very popular for it to happen there. I have finished one side, but my passenger side is worse. Best to take the paint off thst entire area and make sure there's no more rust. Like I said most mk1s have rust in thst area, including floor pan etc.

How did you go about make the curved bit? Im thinking of multiple panels like the 2nd picture and bent them as i go. My firewall end of the floor pans are rusty but will be easy to get rid of as it will just be the flat piece that's on an angle.

Do you you have pictures of the rust work you have done? Sorry if you already have a thread on it

Ended up getting some metal debris or something in my eye somehow and haven't got round to doing anymore on the car, painted a few parts black however.

I learned the hard way, always wear safety glasses man, I ****ed my eye up with all the crap off the grinder and what not haha.

Just check my thread dude cbf finding pics. But I just made up small panels and made more accordingly as I went. Make a panel, weld, make another panel, weld etc.

Finished up my center dash panel. Ended up finding a 3 gauge panel out of a Daihatsu rocky at the wreckers and just trimmed it to fit nice and snug with abit of silicon into where the aircon and heater controls where on the Charade. Boost gauge just to test it out Will be buying 2 more, probably oil pressure/temp in the same design as the black water temp one.

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack, and a bit of silver.

Long ass evening today.. I know now how you feel George!

But its now safe to say passenger outside wheel well is done for welding!

Epic work man, that side came up much better than any of mine.

Keep at it! One step at a time, the list gets smaller everyday
